Prof. Erica Wood

Professor Erica Wood is a Transfusion Medicine Specialist, and Head of the Transfusion Research Unit at Monash University. Erica works as a Consultant Haematologist at Monash Health at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre/Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre.Erica is a member of the World Health Organiza�on's Expert Advisory Panel on Transfusion Medicine, and has served as a WHO regional advisor in blood safety. She is President-elect of the Interna�onal Society of Blood Transfusion and a member of several working par�es, including clinical prac�ce, haemovigilance and transfusion-transmi�ed infec�ons. Erica is the current President of the Interna�onal Haemovigilance Network.

Workshop 1- Unconven�onal techniques in immunohematology (4: 30 pm to 6:30 pm on 29th November 2019)Dr. Sanmukh R. Joshi is working at Lok Samarpan Regional Blood Bank and Research Center, Surat, India. He is a well known and noted Immunohematologist credited with the use of unconven�onal techniques and in house reagents. His role in the discovery of Indian Blood group system and the discovery of the new high frequency allele INRA is well known. He is an eminent teacher and has mul�ple publica�ons in renowned na�onal and interna�onal journals.Workshop 2- Role of Transfusion prac��oners in Hematopoie�c stem cell transplant (5: 15 pm to 7:00 pm on 30th November 2019)Dr. Aseem K. Tiwari is Director, Department of Pathology, Laboratory and Transfusion Medicine at Medanta- The Medicity Hospital Gurugram. He is a cer�fied NABH assessor and is a cer�fied Transplant coordinator from Na�onal Marrow Donor Program, USA. He has published in renowned na�onal and interna�onal journals of various disciplines regarding blood transfusion and apheresis and has been instrumental in spreading awareness about apheresis technology in India through books, seminars and workshops.
