After storming two Olympiads in a row (Athens 2004 & Beijing 2008) America's

beach volleyball dream-team decided to take a little time o to reconsider their lives.

May-Treanor has given birth to two babies while Walsh continued to compete with another partner. In 2011, in time to qualify for the Olympics, the two teamed up once more

to qualify for the Olympics. Before they retired the duo had won 112 straight matches

and 2 Olympic Gold medals. While they may not be able to add to the 112 game streak, they are

definitely the team to contend with in London 2012.

This Australian gold medalist in cycling is right on track for a repeat show in

London 2012. Meares set the world record in the 500 time trial minutes after China's Yonghua

Jiang in the 2004 Athens Games. 4 years later, Anna Maree literally broke her neck during the world cup but made an astonishing recovery and fought her way to qualify for

the Beijing Games the same year. She won a silver medal. It is this never-say-die spirit that

puts Anna Maree on the top contenders list once more.

A left-handed table tennis champion and German #1 player, Timo Boll, began

playing tennis at age four. With a shakehand grip (a normal hold with the index finger

perpendicular to the handle) and strong forehand topspin, Boll is one of the top contenders at London 2012. Another reason to look for him on the podium is after he

ended china's 88 month-month monopoly of world #1 in 2011.
