Pakistan, especially Punjab is blessed with precious livestock which is providing livelihood to

more than 35 million people. Unfortunately, despite possessing huge potential, real benefits

from livestock are yet to be tapped. The unit productivity of animals is far less than the

reported production potential. Livestock sector has failed to harvest its real potential due to

non-existence of food security / food safety yardsticks, traceability issues and quality

standardization of livestock products for export purpose. The traditional livestock service

delivery model, which encompasses treatment and artificial insemination services, are

therefore no longer adequate to meet the demand unless dovetailed with vibrant and dynamic

extension services.

Although the livestock is an integral part of the farming system of province of the Punjab yet

it has never been considered as more than a supplementary activity of crops. Two changes in

present scenario necessitate its re-alignment. Firstly, the stagnation in agriculture production

has affixed high profile to the livestock sector. Secondly, after the implementation of WTO

regime and other international obligations, livestock may become a major source of foreign

exchange earnings for the nation. But livestock production of the country is facing poor

productivity with high mortality due to a number of diseases. Thus widening the gap between

demand and supply of livestock products and pushing the food security in perpetual deficit.

Despite facing the hardship, this sector is contributing 11.9% in National GDP and 55% of the

agricultural value added, which is larger than the whole cash crop in value. Livestock sector

enjoys a pivotal role in the rural economy of Pakistan. Average household holding are 2-3

cattle/ buffalo, 3-4 sheep/ goats and 10-12 poultry per family, which contributes 35-40% of

their income from livestock. This is time for us to play the requisite role in the development of

nation with all out efforts. We have to face the challenges and convert them into opportunities

on war footing level. The Government of the Punjab has keen interest in promoting livestock

sector in Punjab by providing enabling environment to put the sector on the right track for

increasing income of farmers and for poverty alleviation.

By using this forum, I feel obliged to say that all the dedicated persons in this sector will be recognized and their suggestions will be welcomed as valuable partners. I am glad to know that Pakistan Veterinary Medical Association is regularly organizing Annual Congress which brings together the stake holders for shaping new ideas and sharing experiences. I congratulate the organizers of this Congress and wish them a great success!

Pakistan is an agricultural country and livestock is playing an important role in national economy. This sector is contributing

55.0% in agricultural income and 11.9% of total National GDP (Economic Survey of Pakistan). The significance of the sector is

indicated by the fact that 67% of Pakistan’s population is rural and almost 30-35 millions rural population is involved in raising

livestock. Each rural family is holding 2-3 cattle/buffalo and 5-6 sheep / goat and is driving 30-40% of its income through

animal raring. At present this sector is not producing at its boom due to major hurdles like lack of proper husbandry practices,

infectious diseases, lack of expertise in animal rearing ad unavalibility of diagnostic services in remote areas. By addressing

these hurdles this sector can further develop and ultimately improves national GDP. This is a tradition of Pakistan Veterinary

Medical Association (PVMA) to hold gathering of stakeholders of livestock and poultry sector every year, where issues and

latest advancements are discussed at length and remedies are suggested by experts of the sector.

I have honor to inform that it has been decided to organize an International Livestock Dairy and Poultry Congress with the

collaboration of Livestock and Dairy Development Department Punjab, on February 27-28, 2015 at Expo Centre, Lahore. The

theme of the congress is “Prosperity and the Food Security through Livestock, Dairy and Poultry Development”.

The stakeholders related to this sector such as poultry / livestock farmers, academician, scientists, government officials,

policy makers, investors, field workers, distributors of veterinary pharmaceuticals, manufacturers, producers, financial

institutions and NGOs, etc, are participating in this event from all over Pakistan and abroad.

This event will provide you a unique platform to share mutual experiences, latest advancements and explore business

opportunities in various countries besides benefitting from the deliberations of the technical sessions. At this eve an invitation

is extended to your good honor to participate in the congress as a delegate.

Challenges affecting the world's food supply such as climate change, completion for

resources (land, water supply and energy), and shifting consumption patterns. According to

FAO by 2050, global warming is expected to reduce yields of today's crops by 20 to 40% in

Asia. At the same time, animal protein consumption is expected to almost double in the first

half of this century.

In Pakistan livestock and poultry sector is source of employment generation and helps to

reduce income variability, providing income to pay for education, health, day to day and

other special occasion needs. It contributes to food supply by converting low-value

materials; inedible or unpalatable into high quality food like milk, meat and eggs.

Consumption of even small amounts of animal-source foods has been shown to

contribute substantially to ensuring dietary adequacy preventing under-nutrition and

nutritional deficiencies. For the national food security and employment generations this

sector needs to update its professionals and practitioners regularly.

It is hearting to note that Pakistan Veterinary Medical Association is organizing

International Livestock Dairy and Poultry Congress along with an Expo on February 27 -28,

2015 at Expo Canter, Lahore. This regular annual activity of the association is a mega event

of the Veterinary and Animal Sciences professionals in the country. This is a unique

opportunity for sharing of experiences and learning about new developments an

achievement of this sector.

I wish the organizers all the success in their endeavours for the development of

livestock, dairy & poultry sector. Moreover, I would like to congratulate organizers for

holding this mega event regularly. The UVAS will provide all support for the success

of this congress.

Hall no. 2 of Expo Centre, Johar Town is available for exhibitors

All bookings will be made on 100 % advance payment.

Booking will be on first come first serve criteria.

Exhibitors can get their booking cancelled before 15th Feb, 2015 in case of cancellation, amount will be

returned within 15 days after the event with 10% deduction

The package is exclusive of any meal and night stay arrangements.

Last date for booking is 1st February, 2015.

Stalls are categorized into 4 categories on the basis of location and space available

In category A, B & C exhibitors will have the opportunity for self designing of stall

In category D fabricated space will be provided to exhibitors.

Use of area for branding or placement of products/accessories other than the allotted space/point will

not be allowed

Hall will be available for branding/designing of stall from 25th Feb, 2015 to 26th Feb, 2015.

Exhibitor will have to complete the designing/branding of their stall one day before the event.

Exhibitor will be solely responsible for the protection of its products/ accessories at stall during the

exhibition time.

No company will be allowed to sublet the allocated place. Stall must be displayed with company's

own name.

Company’s Sponsored Symposiums

ILDPC offers Mini Meeting Rooms if some company wants to organize its symposium.

Details of Meeting Rooms can be obtained from exhibition secretary.
