Abstract
Human Resource Management (HRM) of a company takes care of the manpower
management, organizational management and industrial management in a local scale, per say
in a country. IHRM does that and more in a global scenario. IHRM is responsible for solving
the human resource issues of a multinational company in a foreign subsidiary at any one or
more stages in the process of internationalization. (Harzing, 2011)
International organizations cater to three types of employee categories- HCNs, PCNs and
TCNs. HCNs are host country nationals who work in the company’s foreign branch and
belong to that country. PCNs are parent country nationals who belong to the company’s
country of origin and work in a foreign location as expatriates. TCNs are contracted personals
that neither represents the contractor nor the host nation. Now the function of the IHRM is to
manage these three categories and make them work efficiently individually and well in sync
with each other, to fulfil the company’s goals and objectives. (Dowling, 2008)
