GARDEN KING The Garden Kings are

among the quietest rooms

in the hotel and are

located nearest the fitness

room. Situated on the third

floor, each faces an interior

garden comprised entirely

of local sculpture and

indigenous landscape. LM

Pagano's take on the large

California King bed - 7'

tufted headboard with

matching base platform

and layers upon layers of

white on white linens is

framed by two wall

sconces. Each offers a

Carrera marble desk top,

Sony LCD screen, 5' x 8'

PANORAMIC CORNER KING

These eight corner rooms offer perhaps the most compelling experience in the base building. With 12' ceilings and two window-walls of natural light clad in theatrical sheers and velvetine drapes, each room feels particularly spacious and freeing to the human spirit. Like New Orleans, there is an ecclesiastical and handmade element woven into the design. Gali Art's wrought-iron bedside tables with cruciform feet, Erica Larken's totem-inspired cafe tables and the Pagan Cross corner console ebonized and silver-leafed, are each topped with honed Calcutta gold marble. Sharp Aquos flat-screens and iPod players are within easy reach. A generous seating area includes a 5' x 8’ mirror, crystal chandelier and an "LM Chair", the designer's chair-and-a half upholstered in antiqued velvet. The sprawling California King bed, with its 7' tufted headboard and layers of white on white linens is framed dramatically by two wall sconces and animated by the slow moving Modern Fan Company "Flute" fan above. Generous bathrooms feature dark granite vanities with oval Kallista basins and an unusually elegant vanity light dressed in strands of cascading Swarovski crystals.

APPLE KING The favorite among the

entrepreneurs flocking to

New Orleans, apple Kings

pay tribute to the "creative

ones." The rooms are larger

than other Kings and enjoy

soaring 12' ceilings. They

include a wall-mounted

Sony LCD screen

connected to Apple TV, a

custom closet by Louisiana

Closets and 3 Jack & Jake's

locally grown organic

apples. The sprawling

California King bed, with its

large pearlized headboard

and layers of white on

white linens, is the "heart" of

the guest experience while

the bar perhaps remains

the "soul". Many include a 6'

glass shower. Each offers a

Carrera marble desk, a

handsome sitting chair +

ottoman, Modern Fan

Company's fan, Aveda

bath amenities and

SmartWater.

contemporary New Orleans

style. Each of these 44

rooms offers a spa-like

bathroom with a large glass

shower or tub, abundant

natural light and original

black and white

photography of today's

local music greats snapped

by the unequalled Herman

Leonard among others.

Some rooms include a desk

with a Carrera marble top,

and all include Sony LCD's,

Aveda bath amenities and

the Queen bed - pearlized

headboard and layers of

white linens accented with

a "glamour-gray" charcoal

bed skirt.

ROCKSTAR

ROOM The "Rockstar" rooms

feature quiet. Located on

the 11th floor, without

windows, these rooms

average 340 sf. They are a

favorite among touring

band-members like REM

and bachelorettes or

bachelors who really want

sleep, beauty sleep, any

sleep, ... REM sleep. With

brick walls washed in warm

light, these rooms tell an

architectural story and offer

a king or queen bed with all

of the hotel's design

standards, among them the

pearlized headboard and

tone on tone white linens,

as well as a Sony LCD

screen and Aveda bath

amenities.

METROPOLITIAN

MASTER SUITE Located just off the hotel's Magalena Gallery, the distinctive feature in this suite is the bathroom. Its vanity and glass shower are the hotel’s largest. The alluring composition of elongated, granite vanity, elegant mirror and lighting draped with cascading strands of Swarovski crystal adds sensual sophistication to this space. And, recently renovated by designer LM Pagano, this suite reflects well Pagano's style: “ … an effortless mix of old and new, with unexpected moments of pristine yet tattered grace that I love so much about this town.” Tapping skilled artisans in her native City of Angels and adopted Crescent City, Pagano hired the gifted Erica Larken to make totem-inspired café tables and Gabriel Victor to fabricate a Pagan Cross console, topped with honed Calacatta Gold. Sharp Aquos flat-screens and Apple TV add modern electronics. An expansive living space also includes two crystal chandeliers and a remarkably deep, plush sofa chock-full of throw pillows. A 5' x 8’ mirror animates the room, and the generous California King bed, with LM's 7' tufted headboard, layers of white linen and a white Modern Fan "Flute" fan rotating above and completes this 2nd floor suite ensemble.

COSMOPOLITAN CORNER SUITE Two uncommon features in this suite are the hotel's only cast iron soaking tub and a window-wall that includes built-in limestone seating, it drawing guests to the cityscape bustling below. Furnishings form an eclectic mix: Deep plush sofa. Hammered-nickel lamps with pleated, white-linen shades. Objects bought. Antiqued velvet. Ruined finery. Oversized mirrors. Ecclesiastical symbols. Crystal chandelier. Apple TV. Wrought iron. Objects found. One bequeathed. Copper. Aveda. A custom closet. Honed marble. Smart Water. The gifted Herman Leonard's classic black and whites, and two Sharp flat-screens. A favorite for privacy, romance and passion, this space feels more like a cosmopolitan pied-a-terre than hotel room. It is located just past the hotel’s Magdalena art gallery.

PENTHOUSES Recently re-imagined by Los Angeles-based designer LM Pagano, the penthouses reflect Pagano's style: "... pristine but tattered grace, coupled with unexpected moments that radiate this city's unique sense of time and place".

Two expansive, richly designed skyline havens top the hotel with captivating views, landscaped terraces and often published interiors. Reclaimed, wide-plank pine gleams underfoot, with handsome rugs by Studio Nanimarquina. Floor to ceiling slabs of honed Calacatta marble clad oversized bathrooms and showers, paying contemporary homage to generations of Italian influence on the city's heritage. Dornbracht platinum-nickel faucets pour an elegant cascade of water into 7 ft. CUBE soaking tubs, over which hang expansive mirrors and Swarovski chandeliers. Two Aquos flat screens and iPod players sit within easy reach throughout the space.

STUDIO PENTHOUSES The obvious appeal of these slightly smaller penthouses is the handsomely furnished private terrace, offering outside lounge seating, southwestern sunsets and city views.  True to New Orleans style, there is a handmade element woven into the interiors. Local artist Erica Larkin’s hand-crafted bedside tables and totem inspired café tables are topped with honed Calacatta gold. Modern electronics from Sharp Aquos flat-screens to Apple TV are juxtaposed with a seating area that includes, not only iconic black and white photographs by legendary Herman Leonard but also an "LM Chair”, designer Lisa Marie Pagano’s original chair-and-a half. The substantial California King bed, with its 7' tufted headboard and layers of white linens, is animated by Modern Fan Co.’s slow-moving "Flute" fan. Generous bathrooms feature a handsome white pedestal, elegantly beveled mirror and unusual vanity light dressed in cascading strands of Swarovski crystal. The closet is thoughtfully customized, an feature which like the terrace makes these rooms among the more popular for extended stays.

MUSE Overlooking the Mississippi River and the French Quarter, this penthouse and terrace, with its ebony baby-grand piano, beckon the restless muse within, as does an expansive playpen daybed fabricated in Italian chenille by Los Angeles craftsman Gabriel Victor. A worn 6' Carrera top rests on vintage champagne racks, alluding whimsically to a Francophile history while serving as inventive dining table | desk. In one corner, a crystal chandelier dressed in a diaphanous silk shade glows. Washed velvet curtains over white batiste sheers hang from wrought iron rods. Parting a dramatic pair of Fortuny velvet panels leads to the 8' x 11' linen-covered headboard and bed dressed with layers of white bedding, as well the hotel's finest master bathroom. The floors of this 1 bedroom 1.5 bathroom penthouse are covered in wide planks of reclaimed pine from one of the owner's loft projects and upon which rest handsome rugs woven by Studio Nanimarquina of Spain. Floor to ceiling honed slabs of Calacatta Gold marble clad the oversized four-fixture bathroom, contemporary reference to and reverence for generations of Italian influence on this city's heritage. The spacious shower, seemingly carved into a wall of Calacatta, looks directly across at the Dornbracht platinum-nickel faucets pouring an elegant cascade of water into a 7 ft CUBE soaking tub. Over this deep tub hang multiple mirrors and a Swarovski chandelier. Two Aquos flat screens and iPod players sit within easy reach throughout the space.

CITYSCAPE A wrap-around terrace is the unique focal point of this champagne and white penthouse overlooking the city and aptly named "Cityscape". Stretching along Camp Street, with an expansive wall of glass doors that opens onto an extensive terrace, this space reveals arguably the most compelling views in the entire hotel. This 1 bedroom 1.5 bathroom penthouse benefits from an extravagantly sized ottoman, together with a pair of designer  Pagano's own so called "LM Chairs" - velvet-tufted chairs-and-a-half washed in warm light from her silk-covered crystal chandelier. A Pagan Cross corner console is ebonized, silver-leafed and topped with both honed Calacatta marble and a 42" Aquos flat screen paired with Apple TV™. Wide planks of reclaimed pine gleam  underfoot and upon which rest handsome espresso colored rugs by Spain's Studio Nanimarquina. Floor to ceiling honed slabs of Calacatta Gold marble clad oversized four-fixture bathrooms, paying contemporary homage to generations of Italian influence on this city's heritage. The spacious shower, seemingly carved into a wall of marble, looks directly across at the Dornbracht platinum-nickel faucets pouring an elegant cascade of water into the 7 ft CUBE soaking tub. Over this deep tub hang multiple mirrors and a Swarovski chandelier. Two Aquos flat screens and iPod players sit within easy reach throughout the space.

loa are divine spirits in

the Voodoo faith

tradition, but it is spirit of

space and spirits in the

glass that make loa the

destination watering hole

for New Orleans’ more

creative artists,

entrepreneurs and hotel

guests alike. On

any given evening, the

lush room sparkles with

style, gracious service

and a full measure of the

conviviality for which this

city's is known.

Page 40: International House | New Orleans

The bar is led by nationally

recognized “Spirit Handler” Alan

Walter, an eccentric classics buff,

playwright,  songwriter and 1965

Bonneville driver. He brings a fresh

approach to cocktails - a drink

form that originated in New

Orleans - and honors his craft with

both invention and tradition. He

finds local ingredients, such

as honeycomb, herbs and native

flora with the help of curious

purveyors, among them a

beekeeper, a foraging botanist

and a leader of the Houma

Nation. He makes dozens of

syrups, tinctures and aromatic

bitters on site. Each drink is served

in a vintage glass from his

personal collection.

Page 41: International House | New Orleans

Likewise, spirit is evident in every detail of LM Pagano’s design. In the flickering

glow of candlelight which "softens not only the features but the defenses." In

the ruined finery and sophisticated bohemia of her fabrics. In the exotic mix of

European romance, Caribbean ways and African influences. And in the

enchanting ceiling-scape  hand crafted by Armenian-born lighting-meister

Peter Manukyan in his studio.

Page 42: International House | New Orleans

WINE We believe the artistry of wine is about stewardship of the land where the grapes are grown and

lives lived. The best wines are not concocted by winemakers. They essentially produce themselves under the direction of the

winemaker and by the grace of nature’s favorable circumstances. Wine that really tells a story reflects

deep connection and belonging to a place. Such wine is most often produced by a smaller, family-run operation, passionate folks who

care way more than normal people do. Less marketing. More mysticism. Artisan wine makers, in the spirit of

the Italian Galileo Galilei when he suggested that wine is “sunlight held together by water.” Enjoy and remember, strangers are just people

who have yet to raise a glass together.
