International Excision Surgeon Listing Last Updated: July 19, 2019

The patient-to-patient surgeon list is generated through recommendations from patients who have

had surgery with that surgeon and report a good outcome. It by no means guarantees the surgeon's

skill. We support excision of endometriosis as opposed to ablation, especially with deeply infiltrating

disease. This list is a good place to start, but you should investigate thoroughly for yourself.

Not all doctors accept insurance, but this does not mean you do not have coverage as most hospitals

do accept insurance and most doctors' offices will help with billing for insurance for out of network

coverage, though you may have direct responsibility for the balances. Generally they want to evaluate

your records before giving you an idea about costs, each case is different due to areas of disease

involvement so other members cannot give you any idea of what your costs will be.

We encourage you to obtain your operative reports, pathology reports and discharge summaries

plus any diagnostic reports from previous surgeries. You can get these by going to the hospital

medical records departments and requesting them. Many doctors give you these reports at

discharge but some do not. Keep a copy for your own records.

Before your surgery, discuss with your surgeon whether he/she has residents (new doctors in

training) or fellows (often experienced surgeons who are advancing skills) who work with them and

who will be performing your surgery. You should always ask about what happens if your surgeon

encounters an issue outside of his/her skillset. Expert excision docs in pre-op planning often have

general surgeon (or urology/bowel/thoracic, etc) on standby to assist if necessary.
