CHRIST (Deemed to be University) was born out of the educational vision of St Kuriakose Elias Chavara, an educationalist and social reformer of the nineteenth century in South India. He founded the first catholic indigenous congregation, Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), in 1831 which administers CHRIST (Deemed to be University).

Established in 1969 as Christ College, it undertook path-breaking initiatives in Indian higher education with the introduction of innovative and modern curriculum, insistence on academic discipline, imparting of holistic education and adoption of global higher education practices with the support of creative and dedicated staff. The University Grants Commission (UGC) of India conferred autonomy to Christ College in 2004 and identified it as an Institution with Potential for Excellence in 2006. In 2008, under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, the Ministry of Human Resource Development of the Government of India, declared the institution a Deemed to be University, in the name and style of CHRIST (Deemed to be University). One of the first institutions in South India to be accredited in 1998 by the NAAC, and subsequently in 2004 and 2016, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) has the top grade ‘A’ in the 4-point scale. CHRIST also ranks 1st among Private Universities in India according to India Today - MDRA Survey 2018.

CHRIST focuses on teaching, research and service. It offers Bachelor’s to Doctoral programme in Humanities, Social Sciences, Science, Commerce, Management, Engineering, Education, and Law to over 21000 students. The campus is a living example for the harmonious multiculturalism with students from all over India and across the Globe. ACCA, UK Founded in 1904, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) is the global professional accounting body offering the Chartered Certified Accountant qualification (ACCA or FCCA). As on Dec 2017, ACCA recorded 200,000 members and 486,000 students in 180 countries. ACCA's headquarters is in London with principal administrative office in Glasgow. The Association of Authorised Public Accountants (AAPA), one of the British professional bodies for public accountants, has been a subsidiary of ACCA since 1996.

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), founded in 1919, is the world’s leading and largest professional body of management accountants. CIMA helps individuals and businesses to succeed by harnessing the full power of management accounting – not just accounting for the balance sheet, but accounting for business.

Together with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), they established the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation in 2012 to provide members with a new level of resources and recognition.The CIMA syllabus draws on the unique CGMA Global Management Accounting Principles© and CGMA Competency Framework to empower individuals with high-level abilities to help them achieve sustainable success in both business and finance.

DEANERY OF COMMERCE & MANAGEMENT COMMERCE The Department of Commerce, one of the oldest and largest departments of the University, established in 1969 believes in developing and nurturing global competencies in students through quality education, research and continuous innovation. The Department offers Bachelor, Master and Doctoral programme in Commerce. The department also provides value added professional programmes and certifications through recognized global bodies such as Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), USA, Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI), UK and Insurance Institute of India (III). In recognition of excellence in the provision of higher education in the fields of financial services, CHRIST was awarded the ‘CISI Centre of Excellence Accreditation’, by CISI. CHRIST is by far, the only university outside the UK to be conferred with this status.

MANAGEMENT STUDIES The Department of Management Studies, CHRIST, was established in 1991 with a clearly defined approach for creating quality managers and entrepreneurs required to face the challenges of the business world. The Department offers Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Master Programmes in Finance (MBA – FM) and Management (MBA – Executive) and Doctoral programme which are specifically designed to enhance career opportunities and to develop well rounded managers and business leaders to effectively tackle a dynamic environment. The Department undertakes various initiatives to ensure that the students are well aligned with the vision of Excellence and Service. Activities like the Entrepreneurship Cell, Gender Equity Programmes, Intercollegiate fests, Intra-Departmental fests, Student Magazines and various other clubs give a platform for the students to sharpen their skills and polish their attitudes for success in the world outside. The Department leads the way when it comes to building a more inclusive society and encourages all its students to associate with social movements and develop into an empathetic citizen. There is a focussed research orientation in the Department and the curriculum is centered on research based learning and projects.

PROFESSIONAL STUDIES The Department of Professional Studies was established in the year 2002 as Centre for Career Advancement (CCA), and later upgraded to Department of Professional Studies in 2007. The department offers some of the most unique and specialized programmes in the field of commerce and management. The Department also supports the MSc Actuarial Science programme for the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.The undergraduate programmes of the department are benchmarked with international professional bodies through a meticulous mapping of the curriculum and innovative evaluation patterns. The department also aims at professional training for a wider career opportunities. This is achieved through student centric value addition courses like Discipline Specific Electives that augment core competencies for Company Secretary (CS), Insurance and Chartered Accountant (CA) and Employability skill enhancement certifications like Six Sigma, Advanced Excel and Portfolio Management. These additional courses along with academic degrees equip the students to meet the challenges and prospects of contemporary academia and the corporate sector enabling differential placements.

HOTEL MANAGEMENT The Department of Hotel Management was started in the year 1991, with the objective to prepare students to join the hotel and hospitality industry. The four year professional degree programme is designed to develop abilities in both the operational domain of a hotel and the overall discipline of management. The curriculum of hotel management programme focuses on the core aspects of hospitality with equal importance on applied research and management courses for overall entrepreneurial and holistic growth of the primary stakeholder. Industry interface is a key aspect of the professional growth of the students where experts from various businesses share ideas. The programme includes six months of internship opportunities in both operational and managerial fields. The programme has its own training and placement cell which monitors the career progression of the students.

CONFERENCE THEME In the emerging scenario of rapid technological advancements, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence has pervaded all spheres of business activities, including Accounting and Finance. Though repetitive and predictive activities can be automated, higher order thinking and decision skills still remain the forte of humans. The sustainability and success of businesses depend on how well they are able to leverage technology and touch to their advantage. Keeping abreast this transcending phase the conference theme has been identified as “Changing Business Landscape : Harnessing Digitization and High Touch”.

CALL FOR PAPERS We invite academicians and practitioners to submit research papers in any of the following sub themes synthesizing Digitalization and High Touch. PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP Social science research issues are far-reaching. The EViews programming offers an adaptable instrument for insightful application of scientific techniques to tackle issues confronting the society. This Pre-Conference workshop is designed to provide hands on training on EViews applications in the field of finance, economics and social sciences.The programme would train the participants on the following themes: • Stationarity and Non-Stationarity Time-Series • Testing for Unit Roots • Cointegration • Causality tests: Vector Auto Regressions (VAR) Model and Vector Error • Correction Model (VECM) • ARMA & ARIMA Models, ARCH, GARCH and Asymmetric GARCH Models At the end of this workshop participants will be able to familiarize on the topics mentioned above and be able to make data driven decisions. Eligibility for Participation : Anyone who has registered to attend the International Conference scheduled for 6 & 7 February, 2019.

The paper will be blind reviewed and only those approved by the reviewers will be selected for conference presentation. For accepted papers, at least one of the authors is expected to present the paper in the conference.
