A text-prompted finger unlocks the setting and allows viewers to adjust the narration and music levels, access English, German and Chinese language versions, rate and share app, and visit the Windows Store to review information on the app (Baumgart, 2013).

With some exploration children can find the four hidden features and games within the app (Baumgart, 2013).

Young users can turn off the lights, throw away garage, help the injured star by putting a band aid on it and send the star home with the balloons (Baumgart, 2013).

Both the print and digital versions of Lauras Star have sparkly 3-D effects (Baumgart, 2013; Baumgart, 1997).
