Foreword

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen!
August, September and October this autumn will
be fully dominated by Anton Bruckner. We are
looking forward to the cooperation with the ‘St.
Florianer Brucknertage’ in August 2016.
Beginning from September 13 onward we are going
to stage the international Bruckner Festival under
the title ‘near and far’. Outstanding artists, cham-
ber orchestras, large orchestras: in many concerts
we are going to meet artists from Austria and Upper
Austria as well as South Korea, Russia and other
countries.
Our partner country in 2016 is South Korea. The
republic is one of the most thrilling far-east coun-
tries, which has utilized Asia’s dynamic develop-
ment of the last fifty years in an exemplary manner.
Numerous artists represent Korea’s exceptional
development and unique educational system. The
composer Anton Bruckner, after whom the festival
was named, is going to be the centrepiece of our
programmatic considerations. In addition, national
and international artists will perform at this festival
so that we can welcome many more composers and
guests from near and far.
We are looking forward to your visit!
Yours
Hans-Joachim Frey

Linzer Klangwolken (Cloud of Sound)
What began on September 18, 1979, at exactly 8.00 pm with Anton Bruckner’s eighth symphony has enchanted more than three million people to date. The idea for the first Klangwolke then was to make the music float like a cloud throughout the town, for everybody to be heard but never losing all its finest quality. For that reason the citizens of Linz put their radios into the open windows and so Bruckner’s music sounded in all of Linz. By now the-re are three annual Linzer Klangwolken: The Classi-cal Klangwolke is an orchrestral performance in its purest form for all classical fans and those aspiring to become such. The Visualized Klangwolke, which is one of the biggest and most spectacular open-air public performances in Europe, transforms the Do-naupark into a breathtaking scenery and befittingly ends in a great fireworks display. For twenty years now children have also had their own Klangwolke. The programme is especially tailored to kids, conse-quently parents are only admitted under the super-vision of their children.
Detailed information available at
www.brucknerhaus.at and www.klangwolke.atThe Klangwolken are a projects of the LIVA.

miered in Leipzig and finally brought him the recognition he
had longed for. There is only one version available, which
was written between 1881 and 1883, mostly in St. Florian,

FLOWer shOestraditional Korean Dance theatreUlsan Metropolitan Dance CompanyGgotshin (flower-embroidered shoes) is an adaptation that
gives a modern take on the Korean traditional folk tale
Kongji Patzzi to portray a woman’s life. It is interesting and
inspiring due to its well-organized structure and story, and
its delicate choreography that harmonizes with its cheerful
rhythms. Ggotshin is a dance drama on contradictory hu-
man attributes; vice and virtue, love and hate, beauty and
ugliness, and nobility and meanness. Ggotshin is like the
Korean version of Cinderella.
