READYFIT™

RESIDENTIAL DOORSETS

The Readyfit™ doorset is designed specifically for internal residential applications, and is a cost effective solution for fitting a door and frame as quickly and easily as possible. Readyfit™ doorsets are available as single doorsets or as doorset pairs, with a wide variety of door styles to choose from.

Supplied as a pre-hung set with architraves, hinges, latch or lock, door linings and door stops, the Readyfit™

doorset is a smart solution to save time, reduce cost and ensure quality.

Readyfit™ internal fire doorsets are also available with FD30 or FD60 fire rating.

• Supplied with MDF foil wrapped linings. Readyfit™ single doorsets are supplied assembled and handed as per your order

• Architraves and door stops are fully machined and packed with the doorset. Fixing brackets are pre-fitted to the side of the frames for ease of installation

• The door stop groove in the lining facilitates the concealed screw-fixing of the lining to the wall

7) Strap banded & braced For ease of distribution and handling during fitting.

8) Floor covering clearance Supplied with a 15mm clearance beneath the door.

9) Transporting bracket Supplied fitted to keep the door closed during transport and the fitting process.

FIRE DOORSET SPECIFICATIONMDF LINING

1) Lining and intumescent stripReadyfit™ fire doorsets are supplied with an FD30 fire rating as standard.

These doorsets are supplied with the same options as the standard MDF specification, with the addition of 10mm x 4mm intumescent strips fitted to the jambs and head to achieve 30 minute fire protection when fitted with an appropriate JELD-WEN fire door.

FD60 fire doorsets are also available on request, they are supplied with a hardwood unfinished frame with two 15mm x 4mm intumescent strips fitted to the jambs and head.

Installation – ReadyfitTM FD30

To add extra support due to the weight of the FD30 fire door, we recommend that one of the frame side hinge screws on the top two hinges is replaced with a 50mm screw (not supplied). This should be driven through the frame into the supporting studwork should it be felt necessary on site.

When fitting a fire doorset it is essential that additional fixing takes place through the door stop groove in the jambs. If there are any spaces (must be no more than 3mm) between the frame and the wall then an appropriate fire-resisting material must be used to fill those gaps.

Clear opening dimensions are determined by a number of components including 13mm stop + 3mm edge gap either side.

CORE TYPES:Standard: Our standard core is hollow which has one lock block to one side of the door for the lock or latch fitting. Approximate doorset weight of 18kg.

Middleweight: A semi solid core gives a sturdier, heavier feel, and provides a far greater fixing area for ironmongery. Approximate doorset weight of 21kg.

Heavyweight: Made using solid core that gives a door a substantial feel and help reduce sound transmission from one room to another. You can also fix ironmongery anywhere across the surface of the door. Approximate doorset weight of 34kg.

INSTALLATION GUIDE

STEP 3: Screw the fixing brackets to the wall. Only screw them hand tight at this stage until step 4 is complete.

STEP 4: Using a spirit level, check the doorset is positioned square in the opening at all edges, pack where necessary.

STEP 1: Unscrew all fixing brackets, reverse them and re-fit ready to offer the doorset to the opening.

STEP 2: Offer up the doorset into the opening, use packers on the edges of the doorset if required. To increase floor covering clearance, packers may be positioned under each jamb.

Doorsets are supplied plastic banded with a timber packing bar for distribution and ease of handling during fitting.


STEP 5: Fully tighten the screws in the fixing brackets.

STEP 6: Now the doorset is in place, remove the plastic banding and the timber packing bar.

STEP 7: Unscrew and remove the metal transport bracket at the top of the doorset.

STEP 8: Using a spirit level, make sure the door and the frame is plumb and square.

STEP 9: Using the timber packing bar removed in step 6, position onto the frame and slide down from top to bottom checking for tightness or excessive gaps.

Note: Fire doorsets require additional fixings, please refer to the BWF certifire label.

STEP 10: If you have excessive gaps you must add packers between the frame and the opening equally at either side.

STEP 11: Test the door closes into the frame correctly, ensuring that the door does not bind or catch in the frame.

STEP 12: Using the fixing guide illustration, measure from the top and bottom, screw through the lining into the wall where machined for the door stops.

STEP 13: Removing the top stop and pins, use packers to adjust between the frame and the opening and fix in the centre. Using grab adhesive or pins refit the top stop.

STEP 14: Fix the two vertical door stops in position, using an appropriate grab adhesive and pins.

STEP 15: Take two pieces of the architrave, (one edge and the top piece) and offer them together.

STEP 16: Using the Hoffmann Key provided assemble both pieces of the architrave together.

STEP 17: Apply an appropriate grab adhesive to the groove in the lining that the architrave will be positioned in.

STEP 18: Press the two pieces of architrave in place, making sure that all areas are clicked into position and the corner joint is a tight fit.

STEP 19: Add the final vertical piece of architrave, using a soft mallet if required. Making sure the architrave is level. Final fix using pins.

Repeat steps 15 to 18 on the reverse side of the door.

FIXING GUIDE

ADDITIONAL DOORSET APPLICATIONSJELD-WEN can also manufacture additional specifications for projects that require doorsets for applications such as communal areas and service cupboards.

RISER DOORSETS JELD-WEN supplies Riser doorsets to conceal and hide service cupboards and to provide protection in the event of a fire. Designed and fire tested specifically for use in riser shafts running through larger buildings, these doorsets can be supplied with either a FD30 or FD60 fire rating.

JELD-WEN can machine Riser doorsets for different type of locks including FB Fire Brigade locks.

Supplied handed as per your order. The handing is determined when facing the door, with the hinge knuckle visible to the left or right side as the door opens towards you.

COMMUNAL DOORSETS JELD-WEN interior doorsets can also be specified for communal areas. Supplied with either a FD30 or FD60 fire rating, communal doorsets are designed to compartmentalise buildings in order to reduce the spread of fire.

Supplied with appropriate fire door hardware and intumescent strips fitted as standard, they are also available with an option for additional smoke seals.

JELD-WEN Securefit™ Doorsets are designed specifically for flat and apartment entrance situations where the highest standards in product performance are required. Available in popular moulded and veneer designs, these doors can be suited to other doors within the property to offer a co-ordinated and high quality look throughout.

Available with BWF-Certifire approved FD30 and FD60 fire door ratings and Secured by Design certification, the Securefit™ doorset offers ultimate style and substance. These doorsets comply with Approved Document M, B, E, L and Q of the Building Regulations:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION 23

Delivery

JELD-WEN doorsets should arrive on site shortly before planned installation; this will avoid unnecessary damage through handling and general site conditions.

Products should be thoroughly checked when delivered to ensure no damage has occurred during transport.

Doorsets can be delivered in house plots, with standard ironmongery fitted. Architraves and door stops are fully machined and packed with the door.

Storage

Doorsets should be stored in a cool, dry place and stackedlevel in a horizontal position with a sufficient gap belowthe stack to allow air circulation. Please note: do not storedoorsets in buildings that are being plastered or have recently been completed.

Decoration

If doors are supplied unfinished they should be decoratedin accordance with British Standard Code of PracticeBS6150: 2006 and BS8000 Part 5:1990. The stain or paintmanufacturer’s instructions must be followed.

All surfaces must be treated (sealed) at the same time toprevent distortion from moisture imbalance. A base coat stain or paint primer are in themselves not a seal. MDF foil wrapped linings, architraves and side panels can be left unfinished, however, if you wish to decorate we recommend one coat of water based gloss paint.

JELD-WEN internal joinery is NOT suitable for waxes, polishes, dyes and oils etc. Please refer to manufacturers instructions.

Maintenance

All ironmongery should be lubricated on a regular basis to ensure smooth and correct functioning. JELD-WEN doorsets can be cleaned using a damp cloth, no abrasive materials should be used as this can damage the face of the door.

Guarantees

JELD-WEN Readyfit™ and Securefit™ doorsets have a 10 year guarantee against manufacturing defects.

Factory finishing has a 5 year guarantee providing regular maintenance has been given to the door.

Ironmongery carries a 1 year guarantee.
