ECUADOR & THE GALAPAGOS ISLANDS

Ecuador is the smallest country in the rugged Andean highlands. It is among

the most rewarding travel destinations in South America. It covers an area of 283,520

sq kms and has a population of 12,920,092 people.

Quito is Ecuador’s capital city. The official language is Spanish, but Quechua,

Quichua and other indigenous languages are also spoken.

Ecuador’s major industries are oil, bananas, shrimp, fish, coffee, textiles,

metal work, paper products, wood products, chemicals, plastics, fishing and lumber.

Ecuador gazes across the Pacific at its lone ‘overseas’ holding, the blissfully distant
