    Interior designing

“Trends are a manifestation of new enablers unlocking existing human needs…

Human needs are constantly changing with time. Interior design ideas are in a state of constant

flux. The demands of new materials and novel forms, along with the rapid pace of technological

innovations and human creativity create interior design trends that are seldom permanent. What

was fresh and inspiring two years back may not necessarily be stylish and interesting today.

What happens today in interior design affects how we will live, work and play tomorrow. But

interior design is not ust growing, it is evolving, too.

!lobal events give rise to global trends. "ocal cultures are impacted by local events that shape

local trends. #ny way one looks at it, trends are fluid in terms of their dynamics and most

certainly affect all kinds of businesses.

$rom the times of the %aahs and till today, Indian arts and crafts have embellished plush

luxurious homes around the world. Traditionally, the luxury of a designed space was enoyedonly by the affluent in India since it was only the rich who could afford to use expensive

materials and hire craftsmen. This is established in the many palatial buildings that India is home

    to.

&n the other hand, the lower income groups worked with what nature provided and created

wonders in the least available. They created marvellous structures which mark the resourceful

and energy efficient approach of the maority of Indians. India's rich culture, diversity and

heritage have left us with a wonderful architectural legacy, whether its mud houses in %aasthan,

sloping roofs in (onkanor the Tanku houses with wind catchers in (hambat.

&ver the years, architects took on the responsibility of furnishing a space and designed every

aspect that went to its conception ) from the furniture to the art work to the tapestries. However,

this level of comfort, amenities and beauty, were restricted to spaces belonging to the rich.

&ver the last decade, urban India has grown leaps and bounds, from the failing third world

country it once was. India is now one of the world's largest democracies and its continuous

growth despite the global meltdown has put money into the hands of the middle class youth who

are now living a lifestyle their parents had only dreamed of. # well planned, professionally

designed space is now well within their grasp and its being reflected in the growing industry of

    Interior design.

Today, Interior design in India has come a long way. It has gained autonomy from #rchitecture

and is not ust reduced to decoration and furnishings anymore. Interior *esign sees space as a

living environment and is a holistic resolution of the socio+cultural, emotional and resource

conditions of the context it represents. It offers a wider scope for students.

Interior design is a profession for leaders that take it upon themselves to solve design problems

in an environment rather than being a follower that relies on other people to provide solutions.

&nly very few people are leaders in the world -ou may be one of them

    Fashion Designing

“One must define intentions, explore options and eventually create compositions that can take

    design to a new level…”

India has a rich culture and tradition which is reflected in the clothing as well. India is one of the

most diverse countries on arth with hundreds of cultures, customs and traditions making up our

national melting pot, and this uni/ue blend of cultures is expressed in art, music, literature and

    above all else0 fashion.

India1s recorded history of clothing goes back to the 2th millennium B3 in the Indus 4alley

Western clothing made its foray into the Indian society during the times of the British %a. Indian

professionals opted to wear western clothing due to its relative comfort or due to regulations set

then. By the turn of the 67st century, both western and Indian clothing had intermingled creating

a uni/ue style of clothing for the typical urban Indian population. Women started wearing more

comfortable clothing and exposure to international fashion led to a fusion of western and Indian

styles of clothing. $ollowing the economic liberali5ation, more obs opened up, and created a

is the one tailor made for you. However, it is also a demanding career, as fashion designers need

to combine their creativity with managerial skills to sustain in this industry. Thus, if you can

create magic with colours, shapes and designs, then fashion designing is the right place for you.

The global fashion industry generates over a trillion dollars a year. 8o what we wear + and how

    Animation

“Animation can explain whatever the mind of man can conceive…”

9any years ago when I was a youngster, my foremost pastime was to watch cartoon films. I was

overwhelmed by the movement of pictures. I used to imagine there must be somewhere a world

where people with long noses, broad ears and enlarged feet would live, where even animals

talked. There might be millions of children who might have shared my views.

India1s film industry has a long history, it is a relatively newcomer to the field of animation.

The first stop+motion film was made by *adasheb :halke in the silent era. The first animated

films from India were produced in the 7; hours a day. 8o #nimation has become a promising profession. It is

the demand of hour. "et us hammer the iron while it is hot?

#nimation in India is currently riding on two key factors + a large base of highly skilled labour,

    and low cost of production.
