Interim Head of Portfolio PMO – 6 months contract in London

A global media and creative brand is seeking an Interim Head of Portfolio PMO to drive critical

improvements in the Portfolio management approach for their global programmes whilst building

overall project management capability.

Reporting into the Global Chief Operating Officer, your primary mandate will be to identify and

improve portfolio management processes such as demand management, dependency management,

investment prioritisation, dependency planning, benefits tracking and risk management to ensure

maximum value is derived from all project investments.

In addition to this, you will manage a PMO team to operationalise and embed these processes,

aligning (sometimes simplifying) them with the current project management capability. You will also

be responsible for:

Engage with functional CxO stakeholders to evaluate underpinning project plans against 1-3

year strategic objectives;

Take ownership of the overall Portfolio Delivery Plan;

Align Portfolio Management and PMO processes with Corporate Risk processes;

Operationalise Governance processes within PMO;

Engage with project management community to effectively raise capability

Skills required:

Strong track-record of implementing a robust Portfolio Management approach to multiple

programmes – ideally for IT-enabled initiatives which use an Agile approach;

Excellent grasp of the practical implementation of processes such as demand management,

dependency planning, investment prioritisation, benefits tracking, PID quality assurance etc;

Strong track-record of operational management of PMO functions;

Excellent ability to coach and guide delivery-level project managers;

Excellent stakeholder manager – ideally with excellent experience of engaging at CxO level;
