Interfaith Homeless Memorial Service

The East San Gabriel Valley Collation for the Homeless will remember the lives of the homeless who have died in Los Angeles County. Between November 2015 and August 2016, 525 homeless persons have died in Los Angeles County many of whom died on our streets from various causes. Because no one claimed their bodies, their remains will be cremated and will be interred in a common gravesite with only a plaque marking the year of their interment. Bishop David O’Connell will preside over a memorial service along with Venerable Hui Dong of Hsi Lai Temple in Hacienda Heights, Rabbi David Mattis of Temple Sholom in Ontario, Marci Hoopes Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints , and Said Seddouk, Iman from the Islamic Center of the San Gabriel Val-ley. Music will be performed by Bryan Pezzone of West Covina United Methodist Church to honor and remember the homeless amongst us especially those that have died on the streets. The memorial ser-vice will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 344 Workman St, Covina on Wednesday October 26th from 7:15 to 8:15 PM. A complete program and flyer can be downloaded at www.esgvch.org. All are welcome - especially those that have family members or friends touched by homelessness. For further information on how you can contribute time, talent, financial assistance or items during the year and for the upcoming Winter Shelter contact the ESGVCH at 626-333-7204, visit the website at www.esgvch.org or email [email protected].
