    Interesting Observation:EcclesiasticusMonday, 28 March 2011 13:42

Sirach, by the Jewish scribe Ben Sira of Jerusalem, also known asWisdom of Jesus son of Sirach, the Wisdom of Ben Sira, orEcclesiasticus, is a work from the early 2nd century BC. It was included inthe Septuagint (the 2nd century BC translation of the Hebrew Bible intoGreek) and is accepted as part of the Christian biblical canon by Catholics,Eastern Orthodox, and most Oriental Orthodox.1

    Ecclesiasticus states some compelling things...

A man need not to say, What is this? wherefore is that? for he [God]hath made all things for their uses. His blessing covered the dryland as a river, and watered it as a flood.2 (Ecclesiasticus 39:21-22)

Now these are not buildings and roads, airports and shopping centers. Allthings would be the Earth, herbs, trees, rocks, clay, ducks and buffalo...natural things. All natural things. This suggests that even poison ivy, being

natural, has some proper use(s), does it not?

As his [God's] ways are plain unto the holy; so are theystumblingblocks unto the wicked. For the good are good thingscreated from the beginning: so evil things for sinners.2(Ecclesiasticus 39:24-25)

Some of us see good medicine in nature, some stumble over what they seeas evil poisons. What are these good things created from the beginningthat should be plain to us? Let's try Genesis...

These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth whenthey were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earthand the heavens, And every plant of the field before it was in theearth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORDGod had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not aman to till the ground. (Genesis 2:4-5, KJV)

So the plants and herbs are part of All Things created by God. All of them.Maybe Genesis 1:29, every "Stoner's" favorite Bible verse, actually meanswhat it says:

And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in thewhich is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be formeat. (Genesis 1:29, KJV)

But some (the stumblers per Ecclesiasticus 3:25) say that some herbs aredangerous. We need to make those illegal, right?

Therefore from the beginning I was resolved, and thought upon

these things, and have left them in writing. All the works of theLord are good: and he will give every needful thing in due season. So that a man cannot say, This is worse than that: for in timethey shall all be well approved. And therefore praise ye the Lordwith the whole heart and mouth, and bless the name of the Lord.2

Thus the Bible dictates that a man cannot say, for example, that Marijuanais worse than lettuce, or Hemp is worse than Pine trees. All of the works ofthe Lord are good, according to the scriptures held as the authoritativeWord of God by millions of people worldwide.

Strange how the law of the land stands directly opposed to Bible precepts:

DEA: "Specifically, smoked marijuana has not withstood the rigors ofscienceit is not medicine, and it is not safe."3

FDA: "The [supplement's] disclaimer must also state that this product isnot intended to "diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease," becauseonly a drug can legally make such a claim."

Bible: "The Lord hath created medicines out of the earth; and he that iswise will not abhor them." (Ecclesiasticus 38:4)2

The DEA abhors Marijuana and other indigenous plant medicines. TheFDA has made it criminal to claim that an herbal/natural supplement ismedicine. The Bible says that medicine comes from the earth.

Which is the higher authority? Whom do we believe, trust, follow, upholdand defend?

Is this compelling enough to take a stand and change the offending laws?To each his own, but some might at least find this to be...

    ...an interesting observation.
