Many people don’t know Mr. Bean's real name, which happens to be Rowan Sebastian Atkinson. He took his long name and made it as short as possible. He then gave this name an identity which we recognize today.

Ella May and Eric Atkinson were Mr. Bean's parents. They were average parents and never dreamt that their son with a name like Mr. Bean would become one of the funniest people in the world.

In the beginning, before becoming Mr. Bean, he tried other names like: Mr. White, and Mr. Cauliflower. He finally settled on Mr. Bean which personified his character.

Mr. Bean became a famous bumbling comedian, but not many people knew of his high education. He attended Queen's College and earned his masters degree in electrical engineering from Oxford University. He was also strongly involved with politics.

When he attended Durham Chorister's School, former Prime Minister Tony Blair was a classmate of his.

In the beginning of his career, he participated in a series of comedy shows for BBC radio called "The Atkinson People". That's when people began to notice his comedic talent. Blackadder Mr. Bean series made him famous.

Mr. Bean was always fascinated with the color brown. He always wore a brown coat.

Rowan Atkinson got the idea for Mr. Bean in the early 1980's when he was attending Oxford University.

There were many comedians but people considered the character of Mr. Bean to be among the 50 funniest characters in Britain.

Aside from being a comedy actor, his one true passion was cars. He loved to collect sports and racing cars.

Mr. Bean loved the adoration of his fans and considered signing autographs as part of his daily routine.

People wonder what he is like when he's not acting. Actually he's a rather quiet family man and loves his job. He also spends a lot of time on beaches.

In the 1980's he met Sunetra Sastry and married her in 1990. She was a makeup artist for BBC and they had two children. In February of 2014, They divorced.

Mr. Bean always believed that physical expression was also a big part of acting and he tried to express this in all his series. His performances were mostly silent and he proved that facial expressions can also entertain people.
