15th August Independence Day: - Every Indian Celebrate this Day as an
independence day of India. Just Before 69th year we get freedom on this day. So
many People Scarifies everything for our freedom from British. In 1947 we started
live in a free nation. Bhagat singh, Mahatma Gandhi, Vallabh bhai Patel, so many
Freedom fighters give everything for Independence. After Independence Jawhar
lal Nehru Selected as a first Prime Minister of India and ruled our nation.
We all know who was first prime Minister of India But how many of you Know the
4th Prime Minister Name of India. Mostly people just talk about 1st and current
Prime Minister of India but they forget about other Pillars of Democracy. Since
1947 we are celebrating Independence and every year we elect one man to Guide
our nation or our Democracy. That man Known as Prime Minister of India.
In last 68 year Total 15 Prime Minister Plays important Role to build our nation. So
let’s talk about them and discussed some interesting Facts.
1. Jawaharlal Nehru – (14 November 1889 – 27 May 1964 )
The first Pillar of Indian Democracy. Jawaharlal Nehru was the first Prime Minister
of India. They also spent the highest time in office as a Prime Minister.
Did you know - Jawaharlal Nehru studied at Harrow and Trinity
College, Cambridge.
2. Lal Bahadur Shastri (9 June 1964 – 11 January 1966)
Lal Bahadur Shastri was the 2nd Prime Minister of India. Lal Bahadur Shastri was
Loyal Follower of Mahatma Gandhi and Played very important Role in 1947. After
independence in starting he work as a Railway Minister later they also served as a
Home Minister of India. In 1964 Lal Bahadur Shastri Elect as a 2nd Prime Minister
of India.
Did You Know Lal Bahadur Shastri went to jail as early as when he was
17-years-old. Jailed for his participation in non-cooperation
movement
3. Gulzarilal Nanda (11 January 1966 – 24 January 1966)
Gulzarilal Nanda was the Third Prime Minister of India. He Became the Prime
Minister in very Intricate Situation. The Deaths of Jawaharlal Nehru in 1964 and
Lal Bahadur Shastri In 1966 impacted indian Democracy and Congress of India

4. Indira Gandhi (14 January 1980 – 31 October 1984)
Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi was the Fourth Prime Minister of India. She served as
a Prime minister from 1966 to 1984 (Until her assassination). She was the 2nd
longest serving Prime Minister after Pandit Jawahar lal Nehru.

5. Morarji Desai (24 March 1977 – 28 July 1979)
He was the fifth prime minister of India. He held So many important posts in India
Such as Deputy Prime Minister of India, Home minister of India and so he worked
as a Chief Minister of Bombay.

6. Charan Singh (28 July 1979 – 14 January 1980)
Chaudhary Charan Singh was the sixth Prime Minister of India. He was the leader
of the Bharatiya Lok Dal. He became the Prime Minister only for 170 Days.
Did You Know: - Chaudhary Charan Singh’s Birthday Celebrate as a
Kisan Divas on 23rd December.
7. Rajiv Gandhi
Rajiv Ratna Gandhi was the seventh Prime Minister of India. Rajiv Gandhi was
part of Nehru-Gandhi Family. He was the professional Pilot. His Mother Indira
Gandhi was former Prime Minister India. After Death of his Brother Sanjay Gandhi
he entered in Politics and became Prime minister. He married to an Italian
waitress “Antonia Maino”. Who changes her name to Sonia Gandhi.

8. V.P. Singh
Vishwanath Pratap Singh was the eighth Prime Minister of India. V. P. Singh is
known for trying to improve the lot of India's lower castes as a Prime Minister. He
was also finance minister of India and as a finance minister he made a bold move
by raiding some of the high Profile personalities that includes Dhirubhai Ambani
and Amitabh Bachchan.

9. Chandra Shekar: - (10 November 1990 – 21 June 1991)
Chandra Shekar Singh was the Ninth Prime Minister of India. He was very Brilliant
Students obtain his master’s degree in Political Science in 1951. His government
was efficient and well run. But in 1991 Congress party withdraw his Support.
Did You Know: - Shri Chandra Shekhar undertook a marathon a
distance of nearly 4260 kms.
10. P. V. Narasimha Rao: - (21 June 1991 – 16 May 1996)
Pamulaparti Venkata Narasimha Rao was the 10th Prime Minister of India. He
was also a Successful lawyer And Politician. He was also an active freedom fighter
who late Join Indian Congress party after Independence.
Did You Know: - Rao won from Nandyal with a victory margin of a
record 5 lakh (500,000) votes and his win was recorded in the Guinness
Book of World Records.
11. Atal Bihari Vajpayee (19 March 1998 – 22 May 2004)
He was the eleventh prime Minister of India. He was elected twice as a prime
minister first in 1996 only for 13 Days and then from 1998 to 2004. He was the
Leader of Bartiya Janta Party 2nd Most Power full Political Party of India. He was
also awarded with India’s Highest Civilian Honour “Bharat Ratna”.
Did you know: - He was the Only Non-Congress Prime Minister of India
who served for 5 Years.
12. H. D. Deve Gowda (1 June 1996 – 21 April 1997)
Haradanahalli Doddegowda Deve Gowda was the twelfth prime Minister of India
and he was also 14th Chief Minister of Karnataka from 1994 to 1996.
Did You Know: - he Started his Political Career when he only 20 Year
Old.
13. I. K. Gujral: - (21 April 1997 – 19 March 1998)
Inder Kumar Gujral was the 14th prime Minister of India he was the 3rd Prime
Minister from Rajya Sabha 1st one is Indira Gandhi and 2nd is H.D. Deve Godwa. He
was a very Successful Politician and very Close to Indira Gandhi when he was part
of Indian Congress Party.

Union by Indira Gandhi?
14. Manmohan Singh: - (22 May 2004 – 26 May 2014)
Manmohan Singh was the 14th Prime Minister of India. He is a great
Indian economist. He was the 2nd prime minister after Jawahar lal
Nehru Who elect Twice after Completing first five Year. He was the only
Sikh prime Minister. He was also work as finance minister when India
was facing economic crises.

15. Narendra Modi: - (26 May 2014)
The current Prime Minister of India. He was also elected thrice as Chief Minister
of Gujarat. He was the face of Bhartiye Janta Party in 2014 elections. He started as

Minister of India.
