Inter-house Waiata Competition This year we are holding an inter-house waiata competition at 1:45pm on Tuesday 8
th of December.
House groups have been practising a waiata specific to their house group and will sing it to an audience
of students, staff and parents. Please come along and join in on Tuesday.
School Organisation for 2016 The school organization for next year has been finalized. As long as we
don’t receive too many more enrolments, the arrangement of classes will be
as follows:
Team 1 – Glenda Gerrisk, Jacqui Draisey, Jazmina Collie, Serina Wade, +
one or two more as the 5 year olds join us during the year.
Team 2 – Daryl Anderson, Ngadia Jones, Viv Te Haara, and Martina
Williams.
Team 3 – Christine Walton, Phil Lees, Mark Lorenzen, and Chris Gore.
Team 4 – Paul Moore, Lisa Dewes, and Tracy Tindle (our former teacher
who is returning to us next year).
If too many more enrolments are received, enough for an additional
teacher, there may need to be a reshuffle of students and classes. Classes
for next year are already higher then we’d prefer, so too many more might
lead to a reshuffle.
Inter-School Speech Challenge It’s official. We are talented talkers. Last week our 5 speech finalists travelled to Mangawhai Beach
School to compete in the speech challenge. We secured 3 wins, one draw, and suffered one loss out of
the 5 speeches, securing the trophy. Well done Georgia Brown (Y8), Nicholas Redwood (Y7), Levi
Williams (Y6), Evah Pirini (Y5) and Paraone Wikiriwhi-Heta (Y4).
Mangawhai Sports Exchange Well done students, and sports department, on an exciting sports exchange with Mangawhai Beach
School. We managed to etch out another trophy win, but it was close and tense. Thank you coaches,
referees and supporters for your assistance. We now have all the trophies, the summer sports, the
winter sports, and the speech trophies, in the cabinet.

HOLIDAY SURF PROGRAMME AT OREWA & TAWHARANUI Good news! We're running our popular holiday surf programme at Orewa and
Tawharanui over the school holidays. The surf programme lasts one week and aims
to teach not only the fundamentals of how to surf but how to enjoy the water in
safe manner, teaching water safety, surf etiquette and hazard awareness.
In addition we have heaps of fun and the kids make a ton of friends with
similar interests (beats the X-box hands down!)

YOU ARE INVITED TO
A COMMUNITY
WORKSHOP The Rodney Local Board wants to
make sure that the old
Wellsford Library is used in a
way that meets community needs
and reflects what the community
wants. Earlier this year the
council called for applications
from community groups who
might want to lease the building.
Two applications have been
received, but before making a
final decision on the use of the
building, the Rodney Local Board
is keen to have another
conversation with the Wellsford
community. If you would like to
attend this facilitated workshop
at the Wellsford Community
Centre on Wednesday 16th
December 2015 from 5.00 -
7.00pm please RSVP by 14
December 2015 to [email protected]
A light supper will be provided.
TAKE CARE! Parents and caregivers are asked to remind students who walk home (under the
tunnel across SH 1) to look both ways at the top of
Batten Street and Matheson Road for any traffic
turning down these roads, before they step out to
cross to the footpath on the other side. Thanks!
Calendar designs will be displayed in office foyer, from this Thursday until Wednesday next week. Parents and Caregivers, are welcome to come in and see their child’s design. Orders for Calendars, Christmas cards or Diaries can be placed through the office throughout this week at a cost of $12.00, $12.50 and $15.00 respectively. A great Christmas gift all can enjoy

Blue Light PCT Challenge Team 2015 A report back from the Police commended our team on the
fact that they were the only ones that talked and yelled
encouragement to each other around the PCT course. Their
team work and encouragement was outstanding.
Well done Shalynne, Ngarui, Jackson & Mackenzee!
When leaving a message on the school answerphone
about absences please remember to give the reason and
type of sickness your child has, or the reason they are
away that day, so our roll can be marked accordingly.
