Instructors: How to Add LinkedIn Learning Videos to D2L This guide provides directions on adding LinkedIn Learning (LIL) videos to D2L. While there are
various ways to add video links in D2L, the following steps are recommended for LIL videos.
These steps take into account that LIL is a login required site and that some videos are open to
the public while others are only for subscribers like APSU faculty, staff and students. If you
have a preferred method and you would like to discuss this option, please contact Distance
Education at [email protected].
1. Obtain the video’s web address/URL.
a. If teaching APSU 1000 and selecting a video from the APSU 1000 LibGuide, see the
steps below. Otherwise, skip down to 1b.
i. Log into LIL. If you have not already activated your free APSU account,
directions are available in this guide to activating your LinkedIn Learning
account.
ii. In another browser tab, open the APSU 1000 LibGuide and navigate to the
“Video Resources” tab.
iii. Review the provided topic areas and available videos. You MUST be logged
into LIL to watch videos. Keep in mind, videos may be directed to a specific
audience (ex. managers, employees, leaders, etc.), but the
information/advice contained within can be generally applied to other
audiences including your students.
iv. Once you have identified a video for your course, right-click on the link in
the Video Resources tab, and select “Copy link address” (Google Chrome)
or “Copy Link Location” (Mozilla Firefox).
b. Alternatively, you can add videos to your course directly from LIL where you can
search through more than 8,000 videos on hundreds of topics.
i. Log into LIL. If you have not already activated your free APSU account,
directions are available in this guide to activating your LinkedIn Learning
account.
ii. Use the Browse option or search box to search for specific topics.
iii. When searching for videos, look for options that are listed as VIDEO and
not COURSE or LEARNING PATH. Courses are a compilation of videos and
learning paths are a compilation of courses.
iv. Once you have identified a video for your course, select “Watch Full
Course.”
v. On the next page, copy the web address/URL from the browser.
2. Log into D2l and find the appropriate course.
3. Select “Content” and identify where you would like to add the video.

4. Select “New” and “Create a file.”
5. (1) Enter a title in the title field. (2) Give the video some introduction text in the file
body. (3) Important note: Include the following text in the file, “You must be logged
into LinkedIn Learning to watch this video. Guides on activating your account and
logging in are available on APSU’s LinkedIn page.” (4) Highlight the text you want to
hyperlink and include “(opens new window)” to improve accessibility. (5) Select the
chain link icon to insert a hyperlink.
6. On the menu, scroll to the bottom and select “URL.”
7. Complete the form: paste the video web address/URL in the URL field, enter a title,
check “New Window,” and select “Insert”.
8. Continue adding content to the new file as needed including additional LIL videos.
When done, select “Publish.” The LIL video is now added as an accessible hyperlink in
your D2L course.
