HUSH FEATURE

NUISANCE ALARMSOnce the alarm has been installed asmall green LED indicator light shouldbe visible through the alarm grill, indicatingthat it is receiving AC supply. A red LEDindicator light should also flash once aminute to indicate the battery is healthyand the unit is operating properly.

If smoke is detected, the unit will emit aloud pulsating alarm and a red indicatorlight will flash quickly and will continueto do so until the air is clear. The ‘HUSH’ feature can mute the detectorif it has been advertently triggered byholding down the ‘TEST/HUSH’ buttonfor a few seconds. The alarm will bemuted for 10 minutes and then will resetinto normal mode.

Test the alarm to be sure it is installedcorrectly and operating properly. Thepush to test button accurately tests thefunctions. Do not use an open flame totest this smoke alarm. You may igniteand damage the smoke alarm or yourhome. When testing, stand at arms length awayfrom the alarm as the horn is very loudand can be harmful to your hearing.

1. Firmly press the PUSH-TO-TESTbutton for at least 5 seconds. Thealarm will sound a loud beeping noise. This will end when the push to testbutton is released.

If there is a nuisance alarm simply pressthe test/hush button on the alarm tosilence it for 10 minutes. If, when the alarm goes off, there is nosign of smoke, heat or noise to indicatethat there is a fire, you should get yourfamily into a safe place, before you startinvestigating.Check the house carefully in case there isa small fire smoldering somewhere.Check whether there is some source ofsmoke or fumes, for example cookingfumes being drawn past the smokealarm by an extractor. If there are frequent nuisance/falsealarms it may be necessary to re-locatethe device away from the source offumes. If for some reason the alarm continuesto sound without smoke or heat beingpresent (due to insect infestation orcontamination build up for example) theunit can be silenced by disconnectingthe mains power and removing the unit.

If cleaning the alarm does not correctthe problem it can be returned to themanufacturer for repair or replacement.

All GreenBrook smoke alarms have acombined test/hush button to help youcontrol nuisance false alarms.

Inapproximately 3 seconds the buzzerwill be silent for 10 minutes.(very large levels of smoke from anearby fire will override the hush onthe smoke alarm)

The unit will flash the red light every 10seconds (instead of the normal 40 seconds)to indicate the sensitivity is reduced.

On inter-connected alarms, pressing thetest/hush on any other alarm will notcancel the alarm.

2. The unit will reset to normal sensitivityat the end of the silenced period. Ifadditional silenced time is required, simply push the test/hush buttonagain.
