1 Introduction

This document will include instructions for a demo of Actix Analyzer. Some troubleshooting

examples will be described, followed by details of product features and included reports. A

video recording of this demonstration is also available which will act as the main guidance

provider.

The Actix Analyzer Script will detail how Analyzer will be able to;

- Identify issues in drive test data

- Automatically Report on KPIs

- Provide problem diagnostic information on the key issues identified.

- Illustrate how analysis process can be automated

- Import how newly created KPI’s can be imported into Spotlight.

2 Setting up the Template As part of this demonstration, polygon filtering will be demonstrated, which requires a degree of configuration. Firstly, it is necessary to take the London.xml file and place it in the regions folder in the user data area. C:\ProgramData\Actix\Analyzer\Bin\Regions (for win 7).

The next step is to place the MapData folder in C:\

3 Loading Data into Analyzer

When starting Actix Analyzer, select Analyzer Classic, when it prompts to select an Engineering Process. Once Analyzer Classic has started, select Tools – Preferences –Cell Ref – File Location. Then select the file cellrefs_LondonOnly

Then Select the log files to load. This can be done by selecting File – Open Logfile. Alternatively, you can drag and drop the file to be loaded from Winows explorer to the Attribute Explorer window in Analyzer. Select the Nemo Log file 3lnpc050805lon024.dt2

4 Maps Charts and Tables Once loaded open up the loaded log file in the Attribute Explorer. Select 3G UMTS, then Downlink Measurements, then Uu_ActiveSet_EcNo_0.

Select Display on Map.

Display on Chart And display on Table Then sort the windows.

As can be seen, red areas can be highlighted which shows poor coverage. If we zoom into the given red area we can see what happened. By plotting GPS confidence (Independent – GPS Data- GPS_Confidence), and then using the offset tool.

Then select the drive route, and drag it across.

As can be seen the EcNo coverage finished, however the drive test vehicle continued. It is therefore suspected that a handoff took place to GSM. Using Actix’s Event Attributes, it is possible to highlight on the map where the 3G2G Handoff took place. By going to Event Data – Handoff Events – Uu_Handover_toGSM, and dragging it onto the map, you can see where the handoff took place.

If the Technology Mode attribute is shown, it is possible to see which technology the UE was on. Technology Mode can be found in 3G UMTS – Dedicated Radio Link - Uu_Technology_Mode. Please note that the driver drives on the left hand side of the Road. The protocol messaging can be verified if one selects the protocol stack browswer. This can be done by selecting the Nemo3GPP stream and right mouse click, Protocol stack broswer and UMTS Radio Interface.

The protocol stack browser shows the Handover Command DL-DCCH HandoverfromUTRANCommand-GSM.

Looking into the messages we can see that a handoff took place to DCS 1800 BCCH 756 with BSIC 42. This can also be confirmed by selecting the GSM Attribute. GSM – Serving Cell Parameters Serv BCCH. By plotting this on the map and also dragging it on the table, one can see the coverage area for BCCH 756.

Page 11: Instructions for Actix Analyzer Demonstration

In fact, by unselecting the UMTS sites and plotting the Serv BCCH on a new map, one can see the best server coverage on the map.

This footprint plot illustrates the strongest server coverage for each respective sector. The cell wedges colour corresponds to the strongest server colours.

Upon closer inspection possible cross feeder problems can be found as illustrated above. The serving sector is clearly pointing almost 180 degrees in the opposite direction of the coverage area.

5 Analysis Processes This section covers the query and reporting generation capabilities within Analyzer. Actix Analyzer is unique in that it is able to provide a very rich set of analysis capabilities that allow the user to be able to analyse their data in a highly flexible way.

5.1 Cross Tab Query The crosstab query is a multidimensional query allowing the user to slice their data and be able to inspect KPI’s with respect to specified constraints. The example below illustrates a multidimensional query with coverage KPI’s RSCP and EcNo. Go to Tools – Analysis Manager – CrossTab Query. Select Dimension and then select the serving sector ID and Serving Cell ID.

Page 14: Instructions for Actix Analyzer Demonstration

In the statistics section, select Uu_ActiveSetRSCP, enter a name in the description box, and ensure that the calculation is Mean. Then do the same for Uu_ActiveSet_EcNo.These two attributes will illustrate the two best serving sectors.

Page 15: Instructions for Actix Analyzer Demonstration

Instructions for Actix Analyzer demonstration - Internal Only Page 15 of 19

Upon selection of the query in the Queries directory, the query now displays the mean best serving RSCP and EcNo coverage per serving cell and sector. It is possible to sort the data such that one can analyse the worst performing cells by selecting the category box at the top. Once this is done, the filter button can be pressed. Now the Uu_ActiveSetEcNo [0] can be shown on the map.

Page 16: Instructions for Actix Analyzer Demonstration

It can be seen that this sector gave the worst best serving coverage. Perhaps because this was overshooting over the river. Unselect the filter button to continue.

5.2 Event Based Query The event based query illustrates the ability to produce multidimensional statistics, however based upon an event that has occurred. In this example we will inspect the coverage quality when a drop call has occurred. Go to tools analysis manager event query. Select Uu_CallDropped

Page 17: Instructions for Actix Analyzer Demonstration

Instructions for Actix Analyzer demonstration - Internal Only Page 17 of 19

Then select 5000 mseconds before the drop call event. This selection will produce statistics for 5 seconds before each drop call event occurs.

Uu_CallDropped event

Coverage Before Drop query. Using the Copy from selection it is possible to copy the queries written from the crosstab query example. Once this is done, select OK. Then run the query.

Page 18: Instructions for Actix Analyzer Demonstration

The result above shows that two drops occurred, and that on one of the drops the EcNo coverage went to an unacceptably low level. This would indicate that this drop occurred due to poor pilot dominance. However, one can also see that RSCP was nevertheless strong.

5.3 Creating a Report.

The two queries that have been written can now be presented in a report. This can be done by right mouse clicking on the query and selecting display in workbook. Upon selecting the second query, this should be displayed on the active workbook.

Select the RSCP and EcNo columns and produce a scatter chart. Also a table can be produced indicating the timing of the drop as well as the coverage statistics.

Next, save the template. Upon loading a different log file, this template can be run against the new log file. Simply select Workbook – Open Workbook.
