Application
TheRDO®Sensorisextremelystable,whicheliminatestheneedforfrequentcalibration.Standardoperatingprocedures,environmentalconditions(e.g.,potentialforfouling,abrasiveconditions)maynecessitateroutinecalibration.
AfterinstallinganewRDOSensor,In-Situ®recommendsthatyouperformacalibration.Forbestresults,performa2-pointcalibrationat100%and0%dissolvedoxygen(DO)saturationbeforeusingthesensor.
100% Oxygen Saturation Calibration
1. Installthebatteriesintheportableairpumpasshowninthediagramontheinsidecover.
2. Fillthelargecalibrationcuptowithin4cm(1.5in.)ofthetopwithcleanwater.
Note: Use tap water, distilled water, or your sample matrix if it is freshwater, not brackish or saline.
3. Turnonthebubbler,openthepinchvalveonthetubing.Runatfullflowratefor10minutestofullysaturatethewaterwithoxygen.After10minutesyoucanusethecontrolvalvetomatchthewaterturbulenceconditionsexpectedinthefield.
4. PlacetheinstrumentinthewaterensuringthatthesensorandthetemperaturethermistorarecompletelysubmergedandthattheRDOsensingmaterialisnotinthedirectpathofthebubbles.
5. Connecttheinstrumenttoacomputerandestablishaconnectiontothecalibrationsoftware.
6. Followthecalibrationwizardprovidedinthesoftware.

0% Oxygen Saturation Calibration
1. Fillthesmallercalibrationcuptotheupperfilllinewithsodiumsulfite(NA2SO3)solution.
2. Placetheinstrumentinthesolutionandallowtimefortemperaturestabilization.
3. EnsuretherearenoairbubblesonthesensingsurfaceoftheRDOSensor.
4. Followthecalibrationwizardprovidedinthesoftware.

5. Whenyouarefinishedrinsethoroughlyincleanwater.
