1. Remove SpotterXtreme by the handle from the hard carry case.

2. The battery inside the SpotterXtreme must be charged before use.

3. Connect the lithium-ion battery charger to the wall socket.

4. Connect the lithium-ion battery charger DC plug into the charging

socket. (See pg4, Fig 1)

5. Wait for charging indicator LED to change from red to green.

6. Disconnect the lithium-ion charger from the SpotterXtreme before

turning it on.

7. Turn the SpotterXtreme on by switching the power/mode button to

the desired setting. (See pg4, Fig 1&3)

8. Point the SpotterXtreme toward your desired area.

9. Manually focus the SpotterXtreme by adjusting the focus lever. (See

pg6, Fig 6&7)

10. The zoom lever can then be adjusted to required magnification;

refocus as needed to gain the best picture possible.

NoteOnly use the mains battery charger supplied.

NoteSpotterXtreme battery must be charged for 8 hours or until the red light on the mains adaptor turns green.

NoteWhen in night mode LED infrared intensity will need to be changed depending on the distance of the area that requires illumination.

Cleaning and Maintenance

To get the most from the SpotterXtreme, keep the infrared LED lens cover clean and free from debris.

Use a dry camera lens or micro fiber cloth to wipe excess dust from the lens areas. Use a clean damp cloth to gently clean the SpotterXtreme housing and lenses. Avoid getting any liquid into any of the sockets.

The SpotterXtreme is not water proof (only water resistant). Always cover the equipment in rainy conditions.

After use and during transportation store the SpotterXtreme in the carry case provided.

! Caution

Do not immerse SpotterXtreme in water or use solvents, alcohol or abrasive chemicals/liquids.

! Caution

Be careful when cleaning the infrared lens cover. Do not clean too vigorously as this can damage the lens cover.

! Warning

There are no serviceable parts on the SpotterXtreme. Do not attempt to disassemble as this will invalidate the guarantee. Please contact your NiteSite Distributor or our Customer Service department for all servicing requirements.

Intended Use

Operating Instructions

The SpotterXtreme has many practical applications including use as a security monitor, leisure activities and some military tactical operations. The SpotterXtreme is fully BS8484 compliant and is ideal for lone workers.

The SpotterXtreme is suitable for use in daylight. During darkness the SpotterXtreme will achieve night vision capability of up to 500 meters. Persons using the SpotterXtreme under the age of 16 must be supervised by an adult.

NiteSite does not bear responsibility for the use of this product in countries or territories where the law prohibits its use. It is the sole responsibility of the operator to comply with the laws and regulations of the country or territories where the SpotterXtreme is used.

To get the best results from your SpotterXtreme follow these instructions.

Day Use

The SpotterXtreme is designed for daylight use as well as lowlight or zero light conditions. To operate the SpotterXtreme in daylight conditions.

1. Ensure battery is fully charged.

2. Turn on the SpotterXtreme to the day mode.

3. In this position there is no infrared light emitted from the LED’s.

4. Point the SpotterXtreme toward the area to be viewed.

5. Gently adjust the focus lever to gain a clear image on the screen.

6. The zoom lever can then be adjusted to the required magnification;

refocus as needed to gain the best picture possible.

! Caution

Do not point the SpotterXtreme at direct sunlight. The camera could be damaged.

Night Mode

The SpotterXtreme uses infrared light to illuminate the camera’s field of view, there is no need for ambient light to get great results from the SpotterXtreme.

1. Ensure battery is fully charged.

2. Turn on the SpotterXtreme to the night mode setting.

See pg4, Fig 3

3. Turn the infrared LED intensity knob to low. See pg4, Fig 2

4. Point the SpotterXtreme toward the intended area.

5. Focus using the lever until the best image is achieved.

See pg6, Fig 6&7

6. The zoom lever can then be adjusted to the required magnification,

refocus as needed to gain the best image.

7. Depending on the distance to the area of interest you may need to

adjust the infrared LED intensity knob. See pg4, Fig 2

NoteIf the LCD screen has a white area in the centre (white out), there is too much infrared light being emitted and the intensity should be adjusted accordingly. Adjusting the zoom and refocusing will also reduce whiteout.

Attaching additional power supply.

An additional Lithium-ion Battery Pack can be purchased to allow longer usage between recharging.

1. Connect the battery to the socket located at the base of the

SpotterXtreme’s handle. (See pg5, Fig 4)

2. Stow the battery securely ensuring no excess pressure or tension is

placed on the battery cable or SpotterXtreme socket.

3. The SpotterXtreme will use the power from external batteries

extending the total operational time of the unit.

Capturing video from the SpotterXtreme output.

The SpotterXtreme is fitted with a video and audio output socket (AV). This will enable an external monitor or video capture device to be connected directly to the SpotterXtreme.

The 3.5mm 4 pin socket can only to be used with a compatible audio-video cable.

• Connect the 3.5mm 4pin jack to the unit. (See pg5, Fig 4)

• Connect the cable to a capture/monitor device.

WarningNever look directly into the infrared LED lens (See pg6, Fig 7). The unit can emit very high concentrated non-visible infra-red light which

can be hazardous to the human eye. Always follow the safety precautions given in IEC 60825-1 and IEC 62471• Persons using the NiteSite equipment under the age of 16 must be supervised by an adult.• Do not attempt to make any repairs to the NiteSite equipment as this will void any guarantee and

could cause personal injury and may cause further damage to the NiteSite equipment.• Do not store any part of the NiteSite equipment near open flames or other forms of excessive

heat. The NiteSite equipment is made of durable ABS plastic and could melt and catch fire.• Working safely with NiteSite equipment is only possible when following the manufacturers’

instructions contained in this booklet.• NiteSite users should comply with all laws and adhere to safe working practices.

Safety Information

1. Only use the NiteSite recommended Lithium-Ion battery charger.2. Do not dispose of the SpotterXtreme battery into an open fire.3. Do not immerse in water or salt water, always store in a cool, dry environment that is away from

metal objects like pins, nails, keys, jewellery, coins, etc.4. Do not leave near a heat source such as a fire or heater.5. Do not connect the SpotterXtreme directly to an electrical socket outlet.6. Do not transport the SpotterXtreme with any metal objects described in no. 37. Do not strike or throw against hard surfaces.8. Do not pierce the housing with a nail or sharp object.

Caution1. Do not use or leave the SpotterXtreme in very high temperatures (i.e.: in direct sunlight or in

a vehicle in extremely hot weather.) Otherwise the battery can overheat, self-combust, or its performance will degenerate and its service life will be shortened.

2. Do not use in a location where static electricity is evident or the safety circuitry may be damaged.3. In case the battery electrolyte gets into the eyes due to leakage DO NOT rub the eyes! Rinse with

copious amounts of clean water and seek medical attention immediately. Failure to do so may result in permanent damage to the eyes or loss of sight.

4. If the SpotterXtreme gives off an odour, generates undue heat, becomes misshapen or abnormal during use, recharging, or storage immediately place it in a contained vessel such as a metal box. DO NOT continue to use the SpotterXtreme. Dispose of it properly.

5. In case the SpotterXtreme handle becomes contaminated with debris of any kind during use, clean with a dry cloth. Otherwise, power failure may occur due to a poor connection.

6. Be aware that discarded batteries may catch fire. Dispose of the SpotterXtreme properly.7. DO NOT take the SpotterXtreme case apart or tamper with it in any way.
