Traditional Chinese Musical Instruments

Er-hu ( 二胡 ) - two-stringed fiddle, it is known as the Chinese violin in the West. Er-hu was a music instrument in China for more than a thousand year.

Pi-pa ( 琵琶 ) – “pear-shaped fretted lute with 4 or 5 strings, Plucked Instrument, Qin Dynasty (221 - 206 BCE) . It is one of the most popular Chinese instruments and has been played for nearly two thousand years in China.”

Gu-Zheng ( 古箏 ) – “16-26 stringed zither with movable bridges. It belongs to the zither family of string instruments. The Guzheng came from a traditional Chinese musical instrument called Zheng. Guzheng was a new instrument of China that evolved from Zheng.”

Flute ( 箫 ) - transverse bamboo flute is known as Chinese Bamboo Flute, and it is classified as the woodwind instrument in the West. It is widely used in many genres of Chinese folk music, as well as Chinese opera, and the modern Chinese orchesta.
