INTRODUCTION
Is One of the places you can not miss when visiting Washington is the
Lincoln Memorial. This building, Greek revival style, is located in the area
known as the National Mall (National esplanade). Built to honor the
memory of President Abraham Lincoln, was opened in 1922, in the presence
of the only son of the president who remained alive, Robert Todd.
In this post we take a walk with you through this famous monument, leave
you a little biographical sketches of the honoree and mention to a very
important historical moment happened there.
DESCRIPTION
Inside the building is this majestic statue, sculptor Daniel Chester French,
depicting a pensive Lincoln facing the Washington Monument. It is of white
marble and a size six meters high and six meters wide. On the back wall
there is an inscription that reads:
“IN THIS TEMPLE,
AS IN THE HEARTS OF THE PEOPLE,
FOR WHOM HE SAVED THE UNION
THE MEMORY OF ABRAHAM LINCOLN
IS ENSHRINED FOREVER”

This place was designed by Henry Bacon and built between 1922 and 1923
and has hosted important historical events such as the famous speech of
Martin Luther King "I have a dream" in 1963.
The photo is made by the pool overlooking the Washington Monument and
the Capitol. The pool has about six hundred feet long and fifty wide.
Although it may seem that it was a beautiful day, the outside temperature
was a few degrees and it was cold to die, so we do not see hardly anyone
in the area. The surrounding area is a beautiful park where you walk while
you come to head many films have been shot there.
As was said, the reflecting pool of the Lincoln Memorial is located in united
states of america in Washington west part of the National Mall and is
about 618 meters (2,029 feet) long by 51 meters (167 feet) wide . It
has a depth of about 46 centimeters (18 inches) on the sides and 76 cm
(30 inches) in the center. Medium containing liters (6,750,000 gallons)
and about 25 million.
is considered one of the places you can not miss in Washington is the Lincoln Memorial.
From this Greek Revival style building, built to honor the memory of President Abraham
Lincoln, are perfectly aligned, the reflecting pool, the George Washington Monument
(obelisk) and the Capitol in the background.
It is open to the public from 8 o'clock in the morning until midnight all year except
December 25.
