• NAMAs in the UNFCCC Context – A naRonally appropriate miRgaRon acRons (NAMAs) is a voluntary
measure for miRgaRng GHG emissions
– The UNFCCC recognizes two categories of NAMAs – those developed using domesRc means (domesRcally supported NAMAs) and those requiring internaRonal support (internaRonally supported NAMAs). A third category, which can be called “credited NAMAs”, is not yet recognized officially by the UNFCCC, but is generally understood as those NAMAs generaRng GHG offsets, to be commercialized on internaRonal carbon markets
• Indonesia NAMAs – The Indonesia NAMAs are built on RAN GRK, it takes a level higher in
terms of implementaRon, and be submiUed to UNFCCC as the final package of miRgaRon acRons outlining how Indonesia aims at making a difference globally.

Basic NaRonal Criteria for NAMAs 1. NAMAs should be built upon the naRonal miRgaRon policy framework
(RPJPN, RPJMN, ICCSR, RAN/RAD-‐GRK)*, and provide evidence for linkage to the naRonal development prioriRes including the naRonal miRgaRon targets
2. NAMAs should be consistent with the naRonal development goals, and complement the exisRng sectoral policies and programs.
3. NAMAs should address the development benefit (social, economic, and environmental aspects) and the co-‐benefit (emission reducRon).
4. NAMAs should highlight the aspect of transformaRonal change. 5. NAMAs should describe the likelihood of successful ImplementaRon, and
foresee long-‐term impacts. 6. NAMAs should esRmate the direct and indirect GHG miRgaRon potenRals,
and demonstrate cost-‐effecRveness.
*) note: If the proposed NAMAs are not listed in the RAN/RAD-‐GRK documents, the submiDers must report it to the relevant agencies (sectoral ministries and/or local governments) to get endorsement.
