Installing the Ear Mount on the Cisco ONS 15310-MA

This document explains how to install the Cisco ONS 15310-MA 19-inch (482.6 mm) or 23-inch (584.2 mm) ear mount. It also contains a description of the ear mount, installation equipment and procedures, and a list of specifications. Ear Mount DescriptionThe 19-inch and 23-inch ear mount allows you to mount a ONS 15310-MA chassis in a standard 19-inch and 23-inch rack respectively. The ear mount has cutouts and holes that allow you to fix additional accessories that are not provided by Cisco such as, DS1 or DS3 block and optical fiber patch panel for SC or LC connectors.

Note You can install the ear mount on the chassis in three different positions to accommodate different depths in the rack (Figure 1).

– 11.5 in. x 10.438 in. x 1.75 in. (29.21 cm x 26.51 cm x 4.45 cm)

– Weight: Approximately 1.32 lbs (0.6 kg)

• Dimensions (23-inch ear mount)

– 7.5 in. x 10.438 in. x 1.75 in. (19.05 cm x 26.51 cm x 4.45 cm)

– Weight: Approximately 1.54 lbs (0.7 kg)

Install the Ear Mount on the ONS 15310-MAThe following parts are required to install the ear mount on the ONS 15310-MA:

• #2 Phillips screwdriver

• Eight panhead screws, 10-32 x 0.375 in.

• Universal ear mount

• 19-inch ear mount or 23-inch ear mount

Note You can install the ear mount (19-inch or 23-inch) either on the left or right side of the chassis.

Step 1 Line up the four screw holes on the desired ear mount (19-inch or 23-inch) with the holes on the ONS 15310-MA chassis.

Step 2 Install and tighten four panhead screws in the holes on the face of the ear mount.

Step 3 Repeat Steps 1 and 2 for the other universal ear mount.

Figure 2 shows a 19-inch ear mount installed on the right side of the chassis, Figure 3 shows a 23-inch ear mount installed on the right side of the chassis, and Figure 4 shows a 19-inch ear mount installed on the left side of the chassis.
