Installing CVSNT for windows.


Setting the CVS Using service Control Panel

Start -> Programs -> CVSNT -> Service Control Panel


Create a repository directory (ie project/ESP) Select Repositories tab and select Add i.e ESP

Click … Browse above repository location i.e project/ESPName: example /ESP

While creating it prompts for initialize. Select OK.

Now two folders will be created. C:/ CVSMain is the repository from now onwards.

Now go the Advanced tab and check all the options available. Actually all are not required but to be safe side. Check all of them.


Now come back to Service Status tab and start CVS Service and CVS Lock Service also. Note: A fish icon is displayed in the system tray. Close it then only you can start the CVS Lock service state to running. Now select Apply and select Ok.

Now follow from 9th step given in the CVS File Notepad.


Goto NetBeans -> right click on desired project-> cvs ->Import into repository


Click on Import to Repository

CVS Root : :pserver:itlokam/miracle@ipaddress of your system:2401/Project Name

Where itlokam/miracle is your username and 2401 is default port number.

Password: System password


Click finish


How to Add users in CVSNT?

Step 1 : Go to command promptStep 2: set CVSROOT=:pserver:itl12:/ESP Where itl12 is System name & ESP is repository name


Step 3 : cvs loginPassword: enter user login password (i.e. username :itlokam/miracle , password:itlokam)

Step 4: Adding a new userCvs passwd –r real username(itlokam/miracle) -a cvsusername(u can add any username for example consider test).

Newpassword: testVerifypassword: test

Now go to other system which you want to be a user for cvsnt .Goto Netbeans -> cvs menu -> Checkout


CVS Root : :pserver:test@remote IP Address:2401/ESP

Where test is added user name and ESP is repository 2401 is default port number for cvsnt. Password : test (i.e which is given above)

Click next-browse

Select the repository(i.e esp) where you will find the project folder.Select that project and click ok.


Finally click finish and it will ask to open project.This project will be added into your netbeans projects.

You can use that project.
