Prerequisite


We can install a new software on our computer. Programs are available on CD-ROMS and floppy disk

Installation of software involves creation of

appropriate folders and icons ,setting of data path and

loading necessary files onto hard disk

Copying files from floppy disk into the hard disk in

order to run on the application

All window programs come with setup program Install is the setup file that we can run to start the

installationTypically , when we run the file , windows display a

series of dialog boxes that lead us through the

installation process

Check Disk Space Before Installing Before we install any new program, we should make sure that enough space is available to hold all files & folders related to the software



To install a new program using control panel

Click the start button , point to Settings and then

click on control panel

The control panel window appears

Double click Add/Remove programs

The Add/Remove Programs properties dialog box

appears



Check Disk Space Before Installing If necessary, click Install/Uninstall tab

Click Install to install a new program

The Install program from CD-ROM dialog box appears is shown in the fig



Insert the program’s first installation floppy disk or CD into the appropriate drive on our computer

Click Next to continue

Windows automatically locates the file needed to install the program



Click on Browse button, choose the desired folder and click Setup and click Ok

Click Finish to install , the program

To make any changes, click back and repeat the

procedure
