INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR BUNKER DRY
1. PLANNING THE INSTALLATION IS VITALLY IMPORTANT. GENERALLY, THE MAIN CONSIDERATIONS AREAS FOLLOWS:
a) SURVEY THE BUNKER AND DETERMINE THE DEPTH OF NEW OR EXISTING DRAIN PIPE.
b) IF THE DRAIN IS EXISTING; (i) CHECK THE SIZE OF THE DRAIN PIPE. THE BUNKER DRY ATTACHES TO A STANDARD Ø100mm PVC OR Ø100mm AGG PIPE. (ii) DETERMINE THE DEPTH OF THE DRAIN PIPE. ENSURE THE DRAIN PIPE DISCHARGES FREELY TO AN OUTLET BELOW THE SURFACE OF THE BUNKER AT ITS LOWEST POINT. (iii) IDENTIFY THE ABSOLUTE LOW SPOT/S IN THE BUNKER. THINK OF A WATER WELL WHERE THE WATER WILL FLOW TO. (iv) CHECK THE DEPTH OF THE DRAIN PIPE TO THE SURFACE LEVEL OF THE BUNKER. THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE INVERT OF THE PIPE AND THYE BUNKER SURFACE MUST RANGE BETWEEN 345mm AND 425mm. (v) MEASURE THE AREA OF THE BUNKER AND CHECK AGAINST BUNKER DRY'S SIZING TABLE FOR CORRECT NUMBER OF DEVICES. SIZING TABLE IS ON PAGE 18 OF THIS MANUAL. (vi) FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTION STEPS FOR INSTALLING BUNKER DRY DEVICES.

THINK OF A WATER WELL WHERE THE WATER WILL FLOW TO. (iv) CHECK THE DEPTH OF THE DRAIN PIPE TO THE SURFACE LEVEL OF THE BUNKER. IMPORTANT
BUNKER DRY IS A GRAVITY DRAINAGE SYSTEM. BUNKER DRY IS RELIANT ON AN EFFICIENT DRAINAGE PIPE WHICH DISCHARGES AT LEAST 345mm BELOW THE LOWEST POINT IN THE BUNKER. THE DIFFERENCE IN DEPTH ALLOWS FOR A FREE DISCHARGE WHICH IS VITAL TO ENSURE THE BEST PERFORMANCE AND FLOW RATES, THUS EVACUATING WATER FROM BUNKERS FAST.
GOLF COURSES WHICH HAVE A GENTLE SLOPE OR ARE UNDULATING, USUALLY HAVE NO DIFFICUILTY IN LAYING DRAINAGE LINES TO A FREE OUTLET, WHETHER THAT BE A STORMWATER DRAIN, CREEK, DAM OR LAKE. SOMETIMES A PURPOSE MADE DEPRESSION CAN BE UTILISED AS A TEMPORARY BASIN WHICH FILLS WHEN BUNKER DRAINAGE IS FLOWING.
WHEN INSTALLING DRAINAGE ON FLAT COURSES, OR WHERE THE WATER TABLE IS HIGH, CONSIDERATION COULD BE GIVEN TO RAISE THE SURFACE OF THE BUNKERS, OR INSTALL A BELOW GROUND STORAGE SYSTEM SIMILAR TO AN ABSORPTION TRENCH ARRAY OF A TRANSPIRATION BED. ANOTHER SOLUTION IS TO EXTEND THE LENGTH OF THE DISCHARGE DRAIN INTO THE FAIRWAY OR ROUGH.

TYPICAL INSTALLATION CONNECTING TO A COMMON COLLECTION PIPE. THIS IS HELPFUL WHEN THECOLLECTION PIPE HAS A GRADE OF 2% OR GREATER, AS THE BRANCH PIPE CAN BE AT 1% GRADE.
MAINTENANCETHE BUNKER DRY DEVICE IS DESIGNED TO CONVEY WATER ONLY FROM BUNKERS. THE SAND AND WATER MIX IS SEPERATEDTHROUGH THE VELOCITY CHAMBER WHICH REMOVES WATER BUT LEAVES SAND IN THE BUNKER.
THERE MAY BE TIMES WHEN THE SYSTEM BECOMES BLOCKED, LIKE ANY OTHER DRAIN, BE IT DEBRIS OR TREE ROOTS ANDSOME MAINTENENCE IS REQUIRED. THE DEVICE IS FITTED WITH A STAINLESS STEEL FERRULE WHICH ALLOWS DETECTIONBELOW THE SAND USING A METAL DETECTOR. WE ALSO RECOMMEND PLOTTING THE LOCATION OF THE DEVICE/S AS SHOWNON THE EXAMPLE SKETCH IN THIS MANUAL.
ONCE THE DEVICE HAS BEEN UNCOVERED, THE BUNKER DRY CAN BE EASILY DISASSEMBLED TO REVEAL THE COLLECTIONPIPE BELOW. THE Ø52mm HOLE IN THE COLLECTION PIPE WILL ALLOW A HOSE OR DRAIN CLEANING EQUIPMENT TO BEINSERTED INTO THE DRAIN FOR CLEANING.
WE DO NOT EXPECT MAINTENANCE TO BE UNDERTAKEN ON REGULAR INTERVALS.
THE BUNKER DRY DEVICE IS MANUFATURED FROM HIGH GRADE POLYETHYLENE WHICH WILL NOT BEAK DOWN OR CORRODEBENEATH THE SAND. YOU CAN EXPECT A LONG LIFE AND A PROBLEM FREE OPERATION OF THE BUNKER DRY DEVICE FORMANY YEARS.

IMPORTANTDURING HEAVY STORMS OR PROLONGED RAIN, DEBRIS AND SOIL FINES CAN WASH INTO THE BUNKER AND SETTLE ON THESURFACE OF THE SAND. THIS WILL BE CONCENTRATED AT THE LOW POINT/S. SOIL FINES AND DEBRIS CAN COMBINE TOFORM A SEMI-IMPERVIOUS FILM ACROSS THE SAND WHICH LIMITS THE PERMEABILITY OF THE SAND AND THUS SLOWS THEINFILTRATION FLOW THROUGH THE SAND. THIS WILL EFFECT THE FINAL FLOWRATE THROUGH THE BUNKER DRY UNIT.BY SIMPLY RAKING THE BASE OF THE BUNKER AND REMOVING THE DEBRIS FILM, WATER WILL AGAIN BEGIN TO FLOWFREELY THROUGH THE SAND AND OUT OF THE BUNKER.
EQUALLY AS IMPORTANT, IS TO PERIODICALLY REMOVE CONTAMINATED SAND WITHIN A 1.0M RADIUSAROUND THE BUNKER DRY UNIT TO ENSURE GOOD INFILTRATION.
