GUIDELINESImportant ! Please Read Completely Before Beginning Installation. According to a report published by the U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (C.P.S.C.) 72% of all playground injuries result from accidental falls. With this in mind, this equipment is designed to fi ll the need for safe yet challenging play. In conjunction with design efforts to reduce the possibilities of injuries, this equipment must be installed "Step by Step" per our installation instructions. As a new owner you are responsible for the correct installation, safe use, and maintenance of your equipment.

Installation Guidelines• Identify all parts and thoroughly read the assembly instructions before beginning construction.

• Refer to your playground equipment plan and footing diagram to assure the equipment purchased will fi t into your selected site area. The use and no-encroachment zones around the play equipment shall be obstacle-free areas designated for unrestricted circulation.

• Site layout is a critical part of the overall installation. Footings must be measured and marked accurately according to the footing diagram. A level and clear installation site is ideal.

• Good drainage around the structure and its supports is important. Inquire with local contractors for appropriate recommendations.

• After laying out all footings and before digging holes, be sure to inquire about underground utilities that may exist.

• Do not leave the job site unattended without making sure that all fastening hardware on all components are tightened according to tightening torque specifi cations listed on every installation guide. We also recommend roping off construction area and covering all holes that do not contain a piece of equipment with plywood or other suitable material.

• Excavate holes as shown in the footing detail. If a level and clear site cannot be obtained, adjust the depth of footing to maintain a level footing base. If soil conditions are loose or unstable, a larger diameter footing may be required. Inquire with local contractors for appropriate recommendations. Be sure concrete that might have splashed onto the unit is washed off before it dries. Allow concrete to harden 72 hours before allowing your structure to be used. Assemble the entire structure before pouring concrete unless specifi cally instructed to do so in the installation instructions.

Tools Required: Playworld Systems® supplies a service kit that contains commonly used hex key wrenches required to assemble your equipment. You may also need: shovel, digging iron, post hole digger, steel rake, wheelbarrow, garden hoe, water hose, tape measure, level, alignment tool, 3/8" ratchet with 9/16" socket, and 9/16" combination wrench.

Maintenance• Inadequate maintenance of equipment has resulted in injuries on the playground. Because the safety of playground equipment and its stability depends on good inspection and maintenance, a comprehensive maintenance program must be developed for each playground and strictly followed. All equipment must be inspected frequently for any potential hazards. Special attention must to be given to moving parts and other components that can be expected to wear. Inspections must to be carried out in a systematic manner by trained personnel. Any damaged or worn parts, or any other hazards identifi ed during inspections must be repaired or replaced immediately. Complete documentation of all maintenance inspections and repairs must be retained.

Supervision Guidelines• Playworld Systems® strongly recommends close supervision of the children as they play as well as intensive classroom and home instruction about safe behavior on playground equipment.

• Playground supervisors should be aware that not all playground equipment is appropriate for all children who may use the playground. Signs should be posted near the equipment indicating the recommended age of the users. Supervisors should direct children to equipment appropriate for their age.

• It is important that playground supervisors recognize that preschool-age children require more attentive supervision on playgrounds than older children.

• Do not permit the use of wet playground equipment. Wet equipment will inhibit necessary traction and gripping capabilities. Slips or falls could occur.

• Do not permit too many children on the same piece of equipment at the same time. It is suggested that children take turns.

• Constantly observe play patterns to discover possible hazardous play and suggest changes in equipment use or play patterns.

FOOTING NOTES• Footing depth equals 42 in. (1067 mm). The post is designed to have 36" (914 mm) in

concrete.

• Do not encase bottom of footing support post in concrete. Place footing support directly on packed stone for drainage.

• The footings shown on Playworld Systems’ documentation are recommendations based on historical performance in average soil conditions. Footing dimensions may be modifi ed by the owner based on actual soil conditions. For example:

- If local soil is loose or unstable, a larger footing may be required. - If local soil is considered stable, such as bedrock, clay or hard packed earth, a smaller

footing may be used. Before changing footing dimensions, we strongly recommend that the footings be reviewed and approved by a registered engineer.

• Base of footing must be below frost line.

• Assemble the entire structure before pouring concrete unless specifi cally instructed to do so in the individual component installation instructions.

Notes Before You Begin: Do not over tighten bolts during assembly, only snug tighten them until assembly is complete. Do not install bolt caps until the structure is completely assembled and properly footed.

Carefully read and understand these installation instructions before you begin.Step 1: Before attempting to assemble your equipment, please review all installation information carefully. Should you experience any diffi culty during the installation process, please call us at the phone number shown on the last page of these instructions.

Step 2: Separate and identify all components and hardware.

Step 3: Excavate the footing as shown in the Anchor Post Footing Detail on page 5 of this document.

Step 4: Attach the shootout goals to the side panels. See Detail A and Elevation View. Place a shootout goal on each side panel at the heights shown in the Elevation View and attach as shown. The end of the panel with the two notches is the bottom and will attach to the anchor post in the next step. Fully tighten the connections according to tightening torque specifi cations (See Final Details).

Step 5: Attach the side panels to the anchor post. See Detail B. With adequate manpower position the bottom of each panel against the base plate on the anchor post and attach as shown.

Step 6: Attach the side panels together. See Detail C. Attach the vertical sides of the panels to each other as shown.

Step 7: Attach the shootout cap to the top of the side panels. See Detail D. Insert the cap into the top of the side panels and attach as shown.

Final Details.Step 8: Plumb and level the component. Tighten all fasteners. Fully tighten all fasteners according to tightening torque specifi cations. Block and brace for concrete. Pour concrete after all equipment has been assembled. Allow 72 hours for concrete to completely cure.Torque Specifi cations: Bolts and nuts - Snug tighten and then tighten an additional one half turn.

Step 9: Select plastic caps and press over the plastic fl anged washers. See Detail E.Note: The plastic caps install easier when they are warm.

Step 10: For areas complying with ASTM standard F1487 or the CSA Z-614, apply the age appropriate label to the component at eye level.

Fasteners• Inspect for loose fasteners. Tightening torque specifi cations are: Bolts and Nuts: Snug tighten and tighten an additional

one-half turn.• If during the maintenance process a bolt needs to be

removed from a part or parts, it will be necessary to apply a drop of liquid thread lock / loctite to the bolt before reinstallation.

• Inspect for missing, worn or broken fasteners. If any missing, worn or broken fasteners are found, refer to the installation instructions for proper replacement fastener. If any damage is detected, barricade equipment to prevent use until repair is completed. Contact your sales representative immediately for a replacement part.

Plastic Parts• Inspect all plastic surfaces for sharp points, cracks

or jagged edges. If any damage is detected and is determined to be unsafe, barricade equipment to prevent use until repair is completed. Minor burrs or sharp edges may be removed by using a sharp utility knife or block plane to remove sharp burr.

Welds• Inspect all welded joints. If any broken welds are detected,

barricade equipment to prevent use until repair is completed. Contact your sales representative immediately for a replacement part.

Finish• Inspect metal parts for fi nish damage. To repair painted surfaces, sand damaged area with

sandpaper and wipe clean. Mask area and paint with primer and allow to dry. Paint primed area with color-matching paint and allow to dry. Recoat area with color-matching paint if required. Drying time is approximately 8 hours between coats.

To repair the EcoArmor coating, contact the Playworld Systems’ Customer Service Department for a coating repair touch-up kit.

We are delighted to present our Triple Shootout, one of the most innovative basket games ever invented. The number of exciting and educational games that can be played with the Triple Shootout is limited only by the imagination. The key to creating games is to be aware of the game’s ‘variables’ and use them creatively and in conjunction with one another. Here are some of the most important variables, along with suggestions for their use.

• The Height of the Buckets:Each bucket on the three sided post can be placed at a variety of heights or all at the same height.

This leads to many creative uses: 1. Change the point value of a

bucket based on it’s height. For example, the highest bucket is worth 3 points, the middle bucket is worth 2 points and the low bucket is worth 1 point.

2. Match the height of the bucket to the height of the users.

3. Match the height of the bucket to the age of the users.

• The Sizes/Shape of the Field:There is no ‘standard’ playing fi eld confi guration, so get creative. Here are just a few ideas:

1. Create three pie-shaped wedges f rom the pos t to coincide with each of the three baskets. Players must stay within their zone during the game.

2. Create one or more circles around the post. Players must stay within their circle.

3. Combine circles and wedges for some really intriguing variations.

• The Color of the Buckets:When ordering the Triple Shootout you can select from several different colors of buckets. This offers variations similiar to the ones discussed in ‘The Height of the Buckets’.

For example: 1. Different colors are worth different points.

2. Different colors can be assigned to different teams or ages.

• The Surfacing: The Triple Shootout can be installed on nearly any surfacing, making it highly adaptable for a wide variety of situations. Because of this option, you can create a variety of options geared to the surface you have chosen.

For example: 1. On a grassy surface, you can develop games that do not require dribbling.

2. On a hard surface, you can develop games that require dribbling or even bouncing the ball into the basket.

There are even more exciting variations when you begin to combine several of the above variables into one new game. We have created just a few interesting games for you to try. These have been tested in an elementary school environment and met with great approval from teachers and kids. They had fun!

Why not create your own games or have the children get involved in creating their own special games for the Triple Shootout? You will fi nd a great joy and sense of achievement when you involve the kids in the creative process. How to Play:

1. For 2 teams of 6 people each.

2. Court is divided into wedges as shown. Distance to outside of circle should be at least 15 feet.

3. Two people from each team are assigned to each zone and must remain in that zone.

4. The ball may be passed from zone to zone.

5. Points are scored by the height of the basket in the zone with 3 points for the highest basket, 2 points for the middle and 1 point for the lowest basket.

6. A team may not shoot consecutive baskets in the same point range. This prevents a team from just focusing on 3-pointers.

7. Winner can be determined by highest points in a designated time period or by fi rst to reach a designated total.

BUCKET BASEBALL

How to Play:

1. Designed for multiple teams of equal numbers of participants.

2. Buckets are mounted at three different heights.

3. Draw a series of three concentric circles around the basket. Use your judgement and available space to determine the distance of each circle from the basket. The idea is to make the shot more challenging as you move further from the basket.

4. Each team determines a batting order.

5. First person selects the shot of his choice.If they make the shot, they get the hit shown. If they miss, the team gets an out. Each player gets one shot. Four consecutive balls gets a walk.

6. The next person in the batting order repeats the process until the team has three outs.

7. The next team is then “up to bat” and repeats the process until they have three outs.

8. Each team keeps track of their “baserunner” and runs.

9. Game can be determined by a prescribed number of innings or whoever reaches a prescribed number ofruns fi rst.

Another Variation:

1. Players all shoot in sequence from fi rst spot.

2. Players that miss get a letter ‘S’

3. All players move to spot #2.

4. Second miss adds a letter ‘P’ etc. until a player has four misses to spell ‘SPOT’ and they are disqualifi ed.

5. Play continues in sequence, moving from spot to spot until only one player remains.

How to Play:

For individuals or teams. Many variations on old games of ‘PIG’

One Variation:

1. Players begin at #1 and shoot in sequence.

2. If a player makes the shot, they move to the next spot when it is their turn.

3. Players continue shooting in sequencing and advancing until someone hits #6.

4. If more then one person hits #6 in the same shooting sequence the start at #1 in a play off & shoot in sequence until someone wins.

5. You can set the “spots” wherever you wish and create as many as you wish.

6. Winner can be determined by highest points in a designated time period or by fi rst to reach a designated total.

2. One player for each team in each zone.

3. Each team begins with a ball in zone 1.

4. At the whistle, players shoot from behind the inner circle line until they make a basket.

5. They pass the ball to their teammate in zone 2 who shoots from beyond the inner circle until they make the basket.
