Thank you to all the parents and carers who came along to the class meetings last week. All teachers distributed term overviews. In the meantime, 3/4B are having a great time in their super-sized classroom usually known as the library! Parent / teacher interviews will be held during Week 10. Information about booking will be sent to families as soon as possible. NDA Next Friday 15 th March is the National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence. The theme this year is ‘Take Action Everyday’. We celebrate this day each year to raise awareness of this issue amongst our students and school community. Staffing and Classes

The students have settled well into their new classes. We expect that our staffing will remain as is for the

year, with the exception of Mrs Skaug and Mrs Atherton returning from maternity leave in a part time

capacity later in the year. We are yet to receive confirmation of the arrival of the additional classroom, but

we are working hard with the Assets Management Unit to get it happening as soon as possible. In the

Parent / teacher interviews will be held during Week 10. Information about booking will be sent to families

as soon as possible.

‘Take Action Everyday’. We celebrate this day each year to raise awareness of this issue amongst our

All students will receive a wrist band and will complete activities in class with their teachers. During Week 7

we will come together as a school and each class will present to the other classes an item with an anti

bullying message or in celebration of Harmony Day.

Parent Survey

Whilst there has been a slight increase of responses (43) to the survey compared to last year, we need more

responses to ensure that this data is a valid representation of parent opinion. There has been some great

ideas and feedback so far. We are looking forward to reading some more!

Student Achievements and Activities

Congratulations to Rocco, Abby, Aniston, Lara, Bridie who are competing today at the Regional Swimming

Carnival. What a great achievement to get to this level! We wish them well.

Our Friday Athletics Program is progressing well, thanks to our parent volunteers. All of our students will

have developed the skills that they need to participate in the Cross Country Carnival later this term and then

the Athletics Carnival early next term.

Clean Up CEPS Day

Last Friday all classes were designated are area

of the school to clean up. Each class almost

filled each of their boxes with a variety of

rubbish items. We discussed what was found,

which highlighted the amount of canteen

wrappers etc that students are not placing in

bins. Well done everyone for lending a hand and

showing pride in our school.

Outdoor Classroom

Our K - 2 students will be participating in a planting day tomorrow with Mrs Burgess and Mrs Turner. I

wonder what we will have growing this time! Last year on a few occasions we had a guessing competition

using an item from the garden. Students and teachers were asked to guess the weight of a vegetable or fruit.

The winner was announced at assembly and the prize was to take the item home. The winner was

encouraged to report back on what they used it for. Mr Tweedie was able to make sweet potato chips with

his 2.8kg sweet potato!

Have a great week everyone!

TREE OF VALUES

This fortnight we are helping our students to understand and demonstrate our school value excellence.

Have you noticed that our tree now incorporates our school statement ‘Inspiring excellence together’? We have the same nine core values, grouped into three big branches to embed this statement with our rules and values.

Excellence means striving for the highest personal achievement in all aspects of schooling and individual and community action, work and life-long learning.

Last week we encouraged our students to wear their full school uniform each day and talked about how this contributes to our school community. This week we will highlight how the completion of high quality school work shows that we value excellence.

Thank your ongoing support of our values program and we would appreciate you having a talk to your child about the value of striving to achieve their very best.

Mrs Lloyd, Mrs Bailey and Mrs Bell SCHOLASTIC BOOK CLUB

Thank you to everyone who placed a Book Club order through the LOOP system. Scholastic has now

introduced a delivery fee to orders which are placed after the order cut-off date. To ensure your order does

not attract this fee please ensure your orders are in by the due date. The Issue 2 catalogues will be sent

home this week and the due date for these orders is Wednesday 20th March.

A huge THANK YOU to our CEPS community and last year’s organiser Mrs

Melanie Lloyd for earning over $1400 worth of new resources for our

students!

We have had a busy start to the term!

Material World

As part of our Science unit, we want to re-purpose some material to

make chair bags for our new classroom. Any 100 cm x 60cm left

overs would be greatly appreciated. The more colourful the better!

CEPS Parliament has literally been solving the

world’s problems.

The Year 6 Leaders have done a fantastic job and

are making a difference in the school. This week we

invited representatives from all the 1-6 classes to

have a say on potential prizes for the school Cross

Country Fundraiser. Stay tuned…

GARDENING AND OUTDOOR CLASSROOM DAY K-2

On Wednesday, the students in Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 will spend some time in our outdoor

classroom and garden, engaging in a range of activities. Sustainability is an important part of the curriculum,

and everyday life, so we are looking forward to a rewarding day.

Please ensure your child brings their water bottle and hat. If you have gardening gloves to send along with

your child, that would be appreciated. Packing insect repellent would also be a great idea.

The students in Years 3 to 6 will have their turn in Term Two.

Kind Regards,

Tania Burgess and Maree Turner

to see so many new, fresh faces that are so eager and motivated to make a difference within the school

community. As everyone was made aware there is so many different ways you can help out without having

to attend the P&C meeting by joining a sub committee or volunteering to help with different fundraising or

School events that are happening. All help big or small is always welcome. Let me introduce you to the

committees for this year.

CAKE STALL

Our cake stalls run on the first Tuesday of every month. Each class will get a turn throughout the year. A note

goes home to the class that is responsible for the cake stall the week before, and a note goes home to all

students the week of. On the day of the cake stall all goods are to be dropped off to the canteen in the

morning, All platters and containers will be sent back to the classrooms either on the day or the following

day. We understand that not everyone has time to bake so store bought items are more than welcome. If it

is your child's class turn for the cake stall if you could lend a hand to serve in the afternoon it would be

greatly appreciated.

A huge THANK YOU to 6L for all the lovely treats that were supplied for our last cake stall. We made $409,

which is fantastic.

LUNCHBOX CAFÉ

Last Thursday 28th February we had our first fresh food day for the year. We had a chicken caesar salad on

the menu and had 30 orders, which is amazing. We received lots of positive feedback about our delicious

salads. We love seeing the children trying these yummy options. Thank you to Belinda Hoad for your help

preparing all of these salads. We have lots of yummy fresh food days and meal deal days to come throughout

the year.

With lots of new students and classes in our school we are quite busy in our school canteen. It would be

most helpful if you could make sure that your child's correct class is written clearly on your child's order,

and if you could remind your child that all lunch orders must be placed in the lunch order box located in the

office by 9.15am. Recess orders are also able to be placed please mark “Recess” clearly on the order.

Children come to the canteen to get their recess orders, lunch orders are sent to the classrooms.

Thank you to our Term 1 volunteers it has been great to see so many new faces in our canteen. Term 2

rosters will go home in the next few weeks. Anyone wanting to volunteer please leave your details in the

office or pop into the canteen on a Monday to see me. If you are wanting to volunteer please make sure you

have filled in the correct paper work in the office.
