This is a season none of us have known before. A season of sickness, physical distancing, empty shelves, face masks, and most of all, uncertainty. It seems we went to sleep and woke up to a different world. In the middle of all the chaos, spring flowers bloomed, and Easter came - the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus.

On Good Friday, I focused on one sentence in Galatians 2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” I began to think about the reality of all the things that have been and still need to be crucified in me. I faced the truth of fear, selfishness, and self-interest. I asked God to crucify anything in me that was not of Him. Then I continued to read the next sentence in the same verse, “The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Wow! Do you see it? I grasped anew the truth that Jesus lives in me and I live His life in my body by faith in Him! Because of

Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection, my identity is shaped by who God says I am; my authority is from Him and my legacy as an heir with Jesus is settled. Suddenly the cross became not just a symbol of crucifixion and death, but also of rebirth. Knowing Whose I am and who I am is foundational in learning to live, love, and lead like Jesus.

He interrupted our meetings on several occasions, but we continuously prayed for him each time we met as a church, trusting God to save his life. Two months ago, he was held down with a terrible sickness and was at the point of death. All medical attention failed since the doctors could not detect the nature of the illness. When the news got to us as a church, we prayed for him during our meetings. At the close of one meeting, I and a few members went to visit him, pray for him and show him love.
