Bryant and Sarah Krieger’s son Fritz was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy last February.Less than a month later, their family, along with dozens of other supporters, were walking to bring strength to life at the Muscle Walk of Phoenix as part of Team Fritz & Friends.
“Muscle Walk shifted our thinking from ‘I can’t’ to ‘We can.’ That day gave us hope, and much needed encouragement,” says Sarah. “Muscle Walk reminded us that people do care, people want to help, and that we are not alone.”
At MDA, we’re on a mission to save and improve the lives of individuals with muscle-debilitating diseases by finding research breakthroughs across disorders, caring for kids and adults from day one and empowering families with resources and support to live unlimited.

“Quantum Rehab feels privileged to be a national sponsor and participant in the MDA Muscle Walk series of events. The events are remarkable local opportunities to both raise awareness and generate support for MDA. In order to address a cause, we all must support the cause — and we encourage everyone to join us in supporting the MDA Muscle Walk.”
Destiny Sanders was nervous. At the age of 12, she was going to MDA Summer Camp for the first time. The counselors put her at ease, even telling her she could call home any time she wanted.
Then she met the other kids and felt the most unusual feeling — that she could just be herself. That for once, she wasn’t different. That the other campers actually understood. “I didn’t call home,” Destiny says of that first week at camp. “Not once.”
Destiny lives with dermatomyositis, a form of muscular dystrophy that causes rashes, muscle weakness and joint pain.
At MDA, Destiny found the support and community she needed to live fully as a 12-year-old, as a college student and now as a mom to two kids. That’s why she’s been a passionate Muscle Walk fundraiser for the past 15 years – so other kids and their families can receive support from MDA to go to camp, attend college and thrive as an adult.
“I support MDA because MDA has supported me so much in my life,” she says. “When someone gives to you on that level, you’ve got to give back,” says Destiny.
