Rambhai Patel is a qualified Civil Engineer with expertise in Urban Planning. He was working with Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation as Asst. Town Planner in Estate & Town Planning Department. He is currently involved in planning & development consulting activities in real estate sector. He has long standing and in-depth experience in preparation and implementation of Development plans and Town Planning Schemes and expertise in functioning and structure of urban local bodies and urban infrastructures. He is an expert in land development activities, especially for optimum utilization of General Development Control Regulations (GDCR). He is also a fellow member of The Gujarat Institute of Civil Engineers & Architects (GICEA) and Institute of Town Planners of India (ITPI) and is actively involved in development activities of the institutes.

The objective of this course is to expose and sensitize the students to the working of a city in India (Ahmedabad) and how different public institutions and agencies that provide services to a city take up planning, implement projects, collect taxes and provide various facilities and amenities in a city. The course is based on field visits to different government institutions involved in taking care of the affairs of the city, on their administrative structure and ways of functioning and discussions of issues faced by them.
