It has been almost a month since we welcomed Pam Garvey to the WGCU family as our new associate general manager for development and community relations.

Pam has a stellar record of fundraising accomplishments for major arts, medical and cultural institutions. Most recently she served as the vice president for development for the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, where over three years she led the team that raised more than $12 million annually in unrestricted funds and $97.4 million towards a capital and endowment campaign.

Prior to working with the symphony, Pam served 18 years in a series of positions at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where – in her final incarnation as associate vice president – she oversaw a staff

of 27 including 13 fundraisers responsible for raising more than $20 million annually and completing an eight-year, $125 million campaign by raising $138.5 million.

Pam also served as the cultural affairs director for the city of Milwaukee, the executive director of Wisconsin Citizens for the Arts and as a consultant and advisor for several cultural organizations.

WGCU is fortunate to have a fundraiser of Pam’s caliber join us to build on the string of successes that the WGCU Development and Community Relations team has created. She has hit the ground running, seems to have quickly acclimatized to our late summer heat and is looking forward to swinging her golf clubs instead of a snow shovel this winter.

Share your family photos for national PBS showWhat brought your family to Southwest Florida?

As part of a new television series being filmed for PBS, and airing in summer 2019, Family Pictures USA will be in Southwest Florida for a series of filmed interviews with Floridians to get their take on this area, its past, present and future, as seen through the family photo album. Our theme is “Welcome to Paradise” and we want to illuminate what it is that draws people here from all over the country and the world to make their home in Southwest Florida.

• The Heights Center, 15570 Hagie Drive, Fort Myers Saturday, Oct. 13, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

• The Boys & Girls Club in Immokalee, Roberts Avenue East Saturday, Oct. 20,10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

At the sessions, plan on spending about an hour with the Family Pictures USA production team. After signing release forms, you will meet with a producer about your photographs and story, whip through hair and makeup, have a 15-minute video interview and then a 15-minute photography session. Your final stop will be the scanning station to have your photos digitized.  All participants will receive a CD with their digitized images after the session.

Interview spots at each location are limited to the first 100 people who sign up.
