school
Next Friday we will be supporting Sports
Relief. The School Council have already
been selling wristbands this week. Next
week there will be a sponsored mile run
for those children who want to take part. On Friday we would like
them to come as a sporting hero. The school council will be on
the gates in the morning collecting donations. We have Jo Mersh
coming to visit the children on
Friday. Jo had shown a great deal
of promise in her early athletics
career having been the English
schools 300m hurdles champion.
However, a series of injuries,
particularly shin splints, halted her
career. Initially competing in the
400-metre hurdles and
heptathlon, Jo took up the 800 metres with her breakthrough
season arriving in 2002. She is a member of the Woodford Green
with Essex Ladies athletic club.

It is that time of year again when we bring an incubator into school and look
after the eggs by making sure they are warm. This year 10 of the eggs have
hatched and we are hoping to keep some on the North site. Mrs Hussein
and Wagtail class are in charge of introducing them to the 1 remaining hen
on the North.
Thank you to Skylark, Miss Dunn and Miss
Tahira for an inspirational assembly about
significant people. The children shared
information about key influential people in
history, who inspires them and what they
would like to be when they are older. Check
the website for more photos.

WELL DONE
Abdi, Aliza, Joe, Haliima and Sky from Year 5 worked with children from Coppermill and Stoneydown Schools to
make a film on the theme of 'community', as part of a project with other local primary and secondary schools.
Last night they attended the film premiere at Willowfield Humanities College. The mayor, Cllr Saima Mahmud,
described the children as 'shining stars'.
Following the screening there was the award ceremony for the 'Walthamstow Oscars', or the W-Oscars for short!
The Mission Grove, Coppermill and Stoneydown film was nominated in four categories: Strongest Community
Message, Best Team Effort, Best Script and Best Primary School Film. The children won the W-OScar for
Strongest Community Message!
Well done Abdi, Aliza, Joe, Haliima and Sky!
ATTENDANCE
Well done to Magpie Class an excellent 100% last week. Unfortunately we have 7 classes who
did not hit 95 %. Swallow, Woodpecker, Waxwing, Wren, Wagtail, Merlin and Buzzard class are
all below 95%. Those 7 classes will be bringing the whole school attendance down.
PE Kits
We have a lot of children who are not wearing the correct clothing for PE. As the
weather is getting warmer we are doing more PE outside. Please ensure that your
child has a plain tshirt, preferably white and black shorts or jogging bottoms and ap-
propriate footwear and a jumper or track suit top to take outside. Please make sure
that all of their clothes are labelled clearly with their name.
Don’t forget next week is Science week.
There is a parent workshop on Thursday 17th March straight after school in the
halls. Please come along to try out some different experiments.
Please remember to download the Mission Grove App and follow us on twitter
