In 2014, we complete a decade of Compassionate service towards those that were needy – humans and
animals alike. Our humble beginnings in 2002, when we started our work on the roads of the District
without a single staff member, has travelled a long way to this day, when we are supported by a Team
of 20 staff members, a functional Animal Hospital and 3 Rescue Vehicles. We hope, at the turn of the
decade, our Programmes and Activities will gather more steam and purpose.
In the last one year we have recast our vision towards Wild life Welfare. The first service in this domain
was our Black Kite Rehabilitation Project within the Karnala Wildlife Sanctuary.
While sticking steadfastly to its vision and objective of responding to every call for help – from big or
small animals – we have realized that it is now time to think beyond the box. While abandoned dogs
and some cats and all bovines are easily rehomed, it is becoming increasingly challenging to rehabilitate
equines and asinines, since no farmhouse or goshala is well equipped or agreeable to take them in for
lifetime care. However, the number of cases that we are attending to is directly unproportionate to the
space available for rehabilitation.
Every time we receive a call for rescuing an injured abandoned donkey, we dread to think beyond when
it will have to be put up for lifetime care.
It will be up to us then, to take things into our own hands. While we are seriously looking at a Rescue
center where we will be able to provide lifetime care for sick, wounded and orphaned donkeys, aged
horses and senior dogs none of who have glamour label attached, we have extensive plans for working
with the Government authorities to curb the nuisance of abandonment. We are already working on
Donkey and Horse registration and plan to work for microchipping of all pet animals through
intervention of respective authorities.
Will you open up your hearts to build a Sanctuary WITH us? Stand BY us while we fight it out
with the reluctant authorities? We kick off our OPERATION KINDNESS this year. We are OK !
To conclude, let me reiterate my appeal for your generous support to our programmes. Our campaigns
and programs are sustained by your support, so do keep the lifeline alive. This is an occasion to revive
our bonds and partnerships to help the most abused living beings. We remain committed to yet another
year of fabulous work that we have chosen to do, and be assured, as always WE WILL DELIVER.

STAND BY USSTAND BY USSTAND BY USSTAND BY US
Since 2002 Thane SPCA has offered unstinted service to community animals.
Through its Hospital Service, through networking with organizations within
and abroad, through awareness programmes, in the face of several
challenges, we have tried to reach out to the maximum number of animals.
We intend to do the same and more in future. We always do not seek
monetary support. Most of the time we feel blessed to have your moral
support in the face of the hard work that we do. Stand By Us. Help us Help
Animals.
