Dear CLA Members,In planning my thoughts forthis newsletter, I wanted tofocus on celebrating the CLAand its members as we havemuch to celebrate. Merriam-Webster defines celebrate as“to praise, to perform, to honoror to observe” somethingspecial or enjoyable. Thisdefinition perfectly captureswhat the CLA accomplisheswith and for the Lebanoncommunity.

On June 14, we observed theFlag Day holiday in conjunctionwith the Elks, with a ceremonyat Fisher Park. A history of theflag was presented involvingour servicemen and also adiscussion on the meaning offreedom and liberty.

The unveiling of the EasternGateway sign, welcomingvisitors and residents toLebanon occurred on July 7where we recognized andpraised those people involvedwith the project. Our thanksgoes out to Kathy Bishop andthe Bishop Foundation for theirgenerous contribution, buildingon the initial gift years agofrom the Foundation thatsupported the Western gatewaysigns. In addition, the CountyCommissioners supported the

project through a grant fromthe hotel tax fund. The otherpartners assisting with thisproject were Boyer Signs,Stony Bridge Landscaping, and Hockley and Associates.Without a place to display thesign, this project would nothave come to fruition, so wethank the Ray Herb, Jr. familyfor allowing the CLA to placethe sign on their property.(See article on page 6)

The Motorcycle Show washeld in downtown Lebanon onSaturday, July 12, with adunking booth, Hog (hot dog)eating contest and music.Despite the light rain for ashort period of time, attendeeswere able to ooh and ahh overthe motorcycles and vote fortheir favorite bike.

On Sunday, August 17 the CarShow was held downtown.Once again, rain till mid-morning kept some carowners away. Despite theweather, over 150 cars wereon display.

We round out the summer/early fall events with the FallCraft Show and the MusicFestival, (September 27)which promises to once againbe a wonderful day.

It is impossible to celebrateand recognize every singleperson who contributes insome way to the CLA’sprogram of work to makeLebanon the place to live, work, shop, learn, and dobusiness. So, for everymember or person who hasattended or supported CLAevents, the board thanks andcelebrates you. Together wepositively impact the businessclimate and the quality of lifefor the Lebanon Community, which is our very mission.

I hope you had theopportunity to attend (or willattend) one of these events toreconnect with CLAmembers, renew your senseof pride of our LebanonCommunity, and rediscoverour local businesses whofocus on serving localneeds. !

    And More Cars

Park Downtown....Pay WithYour Cell PhoneIs it true? Will you be able topay to park at a Downtownmeter with your cell phone?

Some cities already have thisservice. Some have kiosks formeter parking with a Maccard. And, some cities still useparking meters which are

expensive to repair, easy tovandalize and soon, perhaps, athing of the past.

Several Lebanon Downtownbusiness owners areresearching the cost andavailability of paying yourparking meter with your cell

phone which will eliminatequarters, and your phone willalert you when your meter isrunning out of time. How coolis that!

CLA is working with the Cityas well as business owners tostep into the future with thehelp of cell phones! !
