Community Coffee with West Carroll Students
Wednesday, October 13th Big Meadows held their monthly
Community Coffee, this time with students from the local
West Carroll High School. Residents got to know some of the
students as they were made aware of who they were, what
sport they were in, and what was their favorite part of the
Homecoming week. Smiles and laughter filled cups full.
We had a couple band & flag members, captains from golf,
volleyball & football teams and cheerleaders come visit. The
cheerleaders got the other students to help perform a cheer
for us. The residents, students and staff enjoyed donuts and
drinks and spent the hour visiting with one another. We had
a great turn out and went through 10 dozen donuts!
Pictured to the top right are the cheerleaders: Liandra Belterra
(in the skirt) and Danielle McIntyre (in jeans &black shirt) leading
the cheer. Middle right is Taylor Brunner, football captain, with Glen Doty. Bottom left is Sophie Mor‐
hardt and Sarah Boyer, volleyball captains, with Earl Buchholz. Bottom middle is Jordan Speer talking
with PJ Broderick. And the bottom right is Principle Bob Lamb; Katy Cook, volleyball captain; Jordan
Speer, football captain; and Taylor Brunner, football captain.
Wheels for the World Donation
Katy Rockafellow, daughter of Lee & Jan Rockafellow who attends Clarke University, contacted us at Big Meadows about donations. She says, “Clarke University is proudly part of Wheels for the World, which is an organization that takes old walkers, canes, crutches, & wheel chairs and re-furbishes them for future use. Once refurbished, these items are taken all over the world to individuals in need who do not have the means to obtain these assistive de-vices. Additional information about Wheels for the World can be found at http://www.joniandfriends.org/wheels-for-the-world/.” Big Meadows donated 5 wheel chairs & 5 walkers. Pictured to the left is Victor Preston and Jan Rockafellow (Katy’s Mother).

I love seeing the hugs and warm smiles.” Dr. Woods’ genuine caring and understanding of the effects of aging make him a favorite among residents and staff alike. When asked what he likes about geriatric care, Dr. Woods replied, “I love geriatric care because the elderly are such a rich resource of history and wisdom.
