Happy Thanksgiving to each and every one! Stitching Tip: Embroidery Floss – Check floss for colorfastness by soaking in cool water then blotting dry with clean, white towel. If color in floss bleeds, continue rinsing floss until water runs clear. Then allow floss to dry completely. Straighten floss for stitching by drawing across a clean, moist sponge. Fabric Preparation – Press fabric then finish edges with basted hem, whip stitching, machine zig-zag or a commerical fray resisting liquid. Masking tape leaves a residue and is not recommended. Guide lines may be basted on fabric to correspond with bold chart lines or in the center with one vertical and one horizontal thread for less complex designs. A hoop may be used to hold the fabric straight and firm. Release when not in use. Remember we are here to help you. All you have to do is ask.

KNOWLEDGE!

Knowledge means ease of

stitching. The more you know the easier it is to do the job. There is always something to learn in the needlework world. Come to class and not only meet others who enjoy the same hobby but also have fun while learning. There are always new tips to learn. In class, students ask questions and get answers. All of us learn together. I personally have learned so much from students who attended class and will always remember the fellowship.

This is a one of a kind afghan. It is a TEXAS afghan. Even if you aren’t from Texas you will enjoy the quiet scene that this piece shows. It gives a calm feeling of a great place. This is a picture of a Texas scene. NOT a picture of the afghan that we are making. We have been teaching how to change threads as well as proper techniques for stitching this piece. This is a class that started in January and will be complete by the end of the year. If you would like to make this afghan, we have the afghan and all the supplies. Just let us know.
