Inputs Inputs are something put into a

system or expended in its operation to achieve output or a result

Inputs...............Keyboards It contains a number of buttons called keys.

Most keyboards are called ‘QWERTY’ keyboards this is because the first six letters are qwerty. The keyboard can be used to type letters, essays and much more.

Inputs.........................Mouse The mouse controls a pointer that is

displayed on your monitor. It enables you to control what happens on the screen. It usually has two buttons and a central wheel.

Track ball It is just like a mouse however ,in order to

move the pointer you must rotate a ball with your finger. Therefore instead of moving the mouse you simply move the ball

Inputs......................Scanner The scanner is used to input graphic

information into the computer (it converts images or text on paper into digital format that can be used by the computer)

Inputs....................Joystick The joystick is mostly used when playing

games. Normally it consists of one of more buttons called triggers which activate certain events when pressed.

Outputs Output is the term denoting

either an exit or changes which exit a system

Outputs.............Printers printer produce a hard copy of information.

The printing speed is calculated in pages. types of printers golf ball printer It uses a rotating ball as a head. On the

surface, there are letters and when this ball strikes the ribbon, the character is printed on the printer.

Outputs............... Daisy wheel printer It uses a wheel as its head. There are

characters formed on each spoke of the wheel. The wheel is rotated until the correct character is found the it is printed on a paper

Dot matrix printer It has a number of pins in its head. These

pins hit the ribbon into the paper. All the characters would have a dotted pattern.

Outputs................ Thermal printer It works by heating certain areas. When the

paper passes over the print head the paper turns black on the heated area, thus producing a printed image.

Inkjet printer It works by placing extreme small droplets

of ink onto the paper, thus creating an image or character.

Outpus...................... Drum printer It uses a rotating drum with characters

shaped on it. Some hammers hit the paper onto the ribbon and presses it against the drum.

Chain printer It uses a chain with character shaped on it.

This chain rotates and the hammer strikes the paper onto the character as it passes.

Outputs............... Laser printer A laser beam projects an image of the page

to be printed onto an electrically charged rotating drum.

Plotter the plotters are large printers which print on

large printers. A pen is used to draw on the whole paper. Plotters are used to print posters and large diagrams.
