Moy Materials established in Dublin under the Moy Group of companies to distribute modified bitumen waterproofing through the specification market. Moy Materials partners

with Imper Italia (one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of bitumen membranes) with sole distribution rights for the Irish market.

A roof surveying department is set up to carry out conditions’ surveys using electronic leak detection equipment. From this time until the present day the core of the Moy Materials technical offering has consisted of the most modern and innovative survey equipment (thermal imagery, deck scanner, moisture meter and electric conductivity pinhole detector).

FM approvals developed and gained for the Paralon FM modified bitumen warm roof system incorporating insulation manufactured by Kingspan for use in FM Global projects.

Imper Roof founded as distributor agent for Imper Italia in Scotland.

The company adds Insulation products to its offering and becomes a full system provider.

Imper Italia gains BBA certification for Paralon waterproofing. Moy Materials involvement with FM Global approved roofing systems begins, working jointly on the specification of roofing for American multi-national companies within the pharmaceutical and computer technology industries, with clients such as: Allergan, Wyeth, Organon, Apple and Dell.

The first Paralon FM system hits site with 20,000m² roof project for IBM.

Paralon FM work rolls out to many high profile clients such as: Abbott Laboratories, Johnson and Johnson, Pfizer, Vistakon, Zerox and Intel. These clients depended on Moy Materials for design advice on new build projects as well as utilising the company’s survey department for building refurbishment projects.

Specialist experience in FM roof systems leads to the company being invited to carry out a thermal survey and subsequent roof overlay of the Caterpillar factory plant in Leicestershire. The Paralon FM approved warm roof system is installed over a four year period, covering c60,000m2.

The product range grows with the addition of Green Roof systems, Liquid Waterproofing systems, Roof sports surfacing, Roof plant support systems and Epdm Facade Systems.

Moy Materials is recognised as the leading supplier and specification company in the Irish roofing market.

UK market involvement continues on specified projects working alongside Imper Roof in Scotland.

A milestone is reached: the business has supplied over 10 million m² of waterproofing into the Irish and UK markets.

Although originally associated with high performance modified bitumen systems, we have expanded our product range to meet the needs of a constantly changing construction environment. We now provide systems and solutions to deal with almost every waterproofing condition that our clients are likely to encounter.

In addition to modified bitumen systems, we provide BBA certified green roof systems, liquid waterproofing systems and PVC and TPO single ply systems. We also provide a full range of composite metal panels, metal decking and purlins.

Surveys and conditions’ reports

Often, all it takes is an experienced eye to gather enough information to compile conditions’ reports. We can inspect, analyse, diagnose and report on all types of roof construction. Our conditions’ reports include comments on the current condition of the roof, identification of any flaws and recommendations to correct any imperfections.

Specification writing/technical assistance

The correct specification is critical for successful waterproofing. We provide detailed specifications in standard and NBS format. Each specification can be accompanied with relevant extra requirements such as CAD details, u-value calculations, rain water analysis and wind uplift calculations.

CPD presentations

Moy Materials is a recognised CPD (continuing professional development) provider, approved by the RIAI and the RIBA. Our presentations on flat roof design and associated issues take place at a time to suit the client, and are followed by a question and answer session.

On completion of the presentation the names of attendees are recorded and CPD certificates are issued.

Roof surveys and testing

At Moy Materials we pride ourselves on the fact that we are more than just suppliers. Each member of our technical team is highly experienced in the field of waterproofing. As part of our suite of services we conduct detailed roof surveys using the latest technology.

Surveys can be undertaken to determine the condition of a particular roof. We will visit the roof in question and compile a conditions’ report, and offer a range of options regarding repair or replacement.

Site visits and inspections

We provide more than just waterproofing systems; we give our clients peace of mind. Once a project reaches site, we inspect ongoing works and issue interim reports to all relevant parties.

We can act as an extra pair of eyes for the specifier or client, and give reassurance that the system they have selected will be installed to the highest of standards.

Liquid waterproofing systemsLiquid applied systems are ideal for projects where numerous and complex penetrations are likely to be an issue. Liquid systems are also ideal for the recovery of failed roof systems, from flat roofs to composite panels and asbestos cement roofs.

For more than eight decades, Enke has been a specialist for the restoration of roofs and floors and the application of metal covers. The company is highly esteemed as a professional restoration specialist, both by small trading enterprises and by major companies, such as international vehicle manufacturers. In addition, Enke has become recognised outside of its home market of Germany for products that have a long life and are easily processed. In fact, Enke is well established within many high performance industries across Europe.

Enke Liquid waterproofing systems

Enke Liquid waterproofing systems consist of a single pack waterproofing solution with a fast wet-on-wet roller or brush applied application.

The Enke Liquid systems are incredibly versatile and are suited to all new build and refurbishment applications including overlay, warm roof, inverted roof and walkway situations.

Enketop balcony and terrace system

Balconies and terraces are not only permanently exposed to heavy mechanical load, but also to extreme weather and temperature fluctuations. Problems resulting therefrom are well known, such as exfoliating coatings, penetrating moisture caused by cracks in the floor, and mellowing surfaces.

Enkopur and Enkolan Liquid waterproofing

Both the Enkopur and Enkolan systems have a rapid wet-on-wet application and are capable of dealing with the most complex of roof details.

The Enkopur system is waterproof immediately upon application, which protects the installer’s work against unpredictable weather conditions. This system has been designed with zero compromise and is rapidly becoming the system of choice for both installers and specifiers.

The Enkolan system is completely solvent free, does not require a primer for most surfaces and has neutral smell, making this product particularly appropriate for buildings in operation, as well as for hospitals and other sensitive working environments.

Enkryl and Enkepren Liquid waterproofing

Enkryl and Enkepren, in conjunction with Enke Polyflex fleece, are solvent free and economic restoration systems for sloping roofs. Both systems offer protection against moisture penetration and are appropriate for roofs with sufficient pitch. They can be applied directly to the prepared substrate with a roller or with airless spraying.

Our systems

Single ply membrane systemsThe TPO/FPA Sintofoil membrane is a granular extrusion produced by a process of incorporating Ethylene Propylene Rubber into a Polypropylene matrix along with with additives specific to the membrane type. The development cycle was heavily influenced by customer requirements, as well as by Imper Italia’s aim of producing an environmentally friendly product. The result of this research is Sintofoil – a product brought to you by Imper Italia’s Rubberfuse division.

The first installations using Sintofoil membrane date back to 1994. Today, over 12 million m2 have been successfully installed in more than 40 countries.

Loose laid/ballasted system Sintofoil ST or RG

A warm deck roof with the insulation installed loose-laid under the Sintofoil membrane, also loose-laid. The sheets are secured at perimeter and around penetrations. Min. 50 kg/m² ballast is required. Max. Slope: 10°.

Advantages of Sintofoil membranes

The elastomeric-thermoplastic polymer provides the Sintofoil membrane with specific properties that make it suitable for all types of waterproofing.

Easy field assembly The polyefin nature of Sintofoil allows for hot air seam welding of adjoining sheets.

High ageing resistance A chemically inert material with no plasticisers, Sintofoil remains intact over time.

Environmentally friendly and totally recyclable Sintofoil’s base polymer includes only carbon and hydrogen. There are no polluting elements such as chlorine, lead or other heavy metals.

Compatibility with bitumen and related products Elastomeric polyolefins as found in Sintofoil membranes have been used for years as part of Imper’s polymer- bitumen membranes’ compounds.

Green roofing materialsMoy Materials provides all accessory items to complete your green roof project.

Extensive green roof system

We can supply your total extensive green roof with a variety of sedum blankets for different conditions or preferences.

Our blankets can include sedum species native to the British Isles, including wild flowers, ornamental grasses and culinary herbs to add a scent to your roof garden.

We also supply cuttings, plug plants and hydro seeding solutions for larger roofs. The environmental benefits of green roofing are well known, but at Moy Materials we know it has got to look right too.

Intensive green roof system

If the green roof is to be used as a recreational area, walked upon, or forms part of a landscaping aesthetic, an intensive green roof is most appropriate. The Paralon total green roof system is certified for such uses. The drainage board depth is increased and the type of growth medium altered. Our green roof partner, APP Diadem (www.diadem.com), supplies a wide range of drainage boards to suit even the most challenging of planting schemes. Used for upgrading the thermal performance of new build and existing metal, concrete and timber deck flat roofs. Incorporting our insulation with the Moy Materials water proofing systems gives the client a full system warranty.

Thermal insulation

Moy Materials is a trusted supplier of thermal insulation to the roofing and construction industry. With our extensive experience in thermal insulation we can provide solutions for even the most complex roof configurations.

We can provide insulation boards flat, or with a taper to direct rainwater runoff.

The type of board depends on the application. We have two categories of thermal insulation:

Paratorch is an integral part of the Paralon Warm Roof System. Paratorch is a CFC-free composite insulation board with a bitumen impregnated fibreboard facing. This insulation is designed to accept direct torch bonding of Paralon.

Paratorch is the premium choice product for liquid waterproofing applications. With a hard top finish and excellent compressive strength, Paratorch provides the perfect substrate for our liquid systems.

Paratherm range is a zero ODP, CFC-free rigid PIR insulation with varying facers to accommodate the different types of waterproofing available.

Paratherm T – Bitumen impregnated tissue for torch applied systems.

Paratherm G – Tissue faced for bonded membrane applications.

Paratherm F – Foil faced for mechanically attached membrane applications.

PU adhesive

Applications

Moy PU Adhesive system is specially formulated to bond insulation boards to a variety of substrates, including plywood, concrete and steel decks, and bituminous vapour control layers.

Our systems

Tapered insulation systems provide a useful alternative to the traditional methods of creating falls on flat roofs. In new build situations, tapered insulation allows the removal of a screed to falls and the combination of insulation layer and falls. In refurbishment situations, tapered insulation can resolve existing ponding or drainage issues.

At Moy Materials we have extensive experience in addressing drainage and falls issues. We can draft tapered insulation layouts to suit almost any roof configuration. Our layouts are created with both drainage and u-value requirements in mind.

• Robust,pressurisedcontainer– can be used in most conditions.

• Gundoesnotneedtobecleanedafter each use. Turn the gun off after use and the moisture block hose prevents adhesive from curing inside the gun or hose.

Fixings

We have a wide range of fixings for use in the flat roof industry, from membrane fixings and plates, insulation fixings, deck stitches and saddle washers through to standard wood screws, all of which are available for next day delivery.

Outlets

One of the most important elements of any waterproofing system is the outlet, as this is where the water ends up. The correct outlet choice is dictated by the roof type or by outlet location.

At Moy Materials we offer a broad range of outlets which are compatable with all our waterproofing systems.

Other building envelope products

Facade EPDM

Water-permeable finishes, such as architectural curtain walling, stone cladding and porous clay tiles, are becoming popular features in facade design. Thankfully, Rubberclad EPDM is the ideal waterproofing barrier. It is completely impermeable to water and water vapour, and can be bonded to virtually any substrate. In addition, there is a product for every application, whether you need to seal an entire facade or just the joints between concrete panels and window frames.

With extensive experience in EPDM systems, we can advise architects and engineers at design stage, offer project-specific installation guidance, and even give on-site assistance to builders and sub-contractors.

Metal protective coatings

Our Enke Multi Protect coatings come in a variety of standard colours, featuring high durability and good opacity. Our coatings can be applied directly on to grease free substrates without the need for priming.

Capping adhesive

Enkolit is used for bonding and sealing metal capping’s and sheets such as titanium, zinc, copper, aluminium and stainless steel to other building materials. The strengths achieved comply with DIN 1055.

When installing the metal sheets of facades and roofs over a large area level securing of the sheet surfaces in the visible area is improved by applying Enkolit in strips or partial areas.

Enkolit is a permanently plastic adhesive and sealing compound for straightforward bonding of window sill and wall copings. It is also suitable for fixing verges and eaves, flashings and metal claddings.

This product is compatible with our liquid waterproofing products and can be colour matched for larger orders.
