The Katie School of Insurance and Financial Services at Illinois State University, established in 1991, offers a unique experience for the over 350 students majoring or minoring in the areas of risk management, insurance and actuarial science. The Katie School experience compliments these four-year degree programs and the outstanding faculty who teach the courses by providing industry speakers, and student opportunities to interact with industry professionals in a wide range of professional settings.

EDWARD B. RUST, JR. 2016 HALL OF FAME LAUREATE
Edward B. Rust Jr. is the former Chairman of State Farm
Mutual Automobile Insurance Company where he also
served for 30 years as chief executive officer of State Farm
Mutual and its principal affiliates. He is also past chairman
of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors,
the American Enterprise Institute, The Financial Services
Roundtable, the National Alliance of Business, and the Insurance
Institute for Highway Safety. He is currently a member of the
boards of directors of Caterpillar, Inc., Helmerich and Payne, Inc.,
and S&P Global.
The Edward B. Rust, Jr. - Katie School Hall of Fame - Scholarship Fund
was established in 2016 to honor Ed’s legacy of providing significant ac-
complishments to both the insurance industry and society.
MARK WILLIS 2016 LEADERSHIP HONOREE
Mark Willis, former Chairman of American International
Group, Inc. (AIG) Property & Casualty, United States and
Canada, was responsible for overseeing the field operations,
including all regional offices and their territories, of the
Domestic Brokerage Group. In 1977, Willis joined AIG as an
underwriter for AIG member company, New Hampshire
Insurance Company. After being named branch manager
of the Des Moines, Iowa office in 1982, he held various key positions in
locations throughout the United States before being named regional
vice president for American International Companies Midwest (Chicago)
in 1992. In 1995 he headed the Central U.S. Zone as senior vice president
and was appointed executive vice president in 2002.
Willis is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago, the Max McGraw
Wildlife Foundation’s Research Committee, and the Boy Scouts of
America’s Chicago Area Council 118. He is a graduate of Iowa Wesleyan
College and pursued his graduate studies at Drake University. He served
on the Advisory Board of Insurance Executives of the Katie School of
Insurance from 1998 until 2014 and undertook numerous roles, including
panelist at The Executive Forum, and Chair of the Katie School Hall of
Fame committee.
