Page 4: Innovation is almost impossible for older companies

Companies know that it’s a question of life or death.

Page 5: Innovation is almost impossible for older companies

So, they have to react as quickly as possible.

Page 6: Innovation is almost impossible for older companies

Unfortunately, most of them are

facing insuperable obstacles.

Page 7: Innovation is almost impossible for older companies

Biologically, organizations that

are not prepared for change, don’t

change.

First obstacle:

Page 8: Innovation is almost impossible for older companies

Companies are made

by the people within.

Page 9: Innovation is almost impossible for older companies

People have acquired skills

that, at moments, have given significant

advantages to companies in

order to prosper.

Page 10: Innovation is almost impossible for older companies

Skills are habits that are wired in the brain.

Page 11: Innovation is almost impossible for older companies

It requires a lot of effort in order to change the wirings in the brain and thus, the habits.

Page 12: Innovation is almost impossible for older companies

All managers are not incited to change.

Second obstacle:

Page 13: Innovation is almost impossible for older companies

Most managers

have acquired

their position through

professional successes.

Page 14: Innovation is almost impossible for older companies

They have been

awarded for their efforts and received privileges.

Page 15: Innovation is almost impossible for older companies

Any change that can jeopardize their position and privileges is unacceptable for them.

Page 16: Innovation is almost impossible for older companies

Especially in top down organizations, disruptive changes as required by innovation are very difficult.

Page 17: Innovation is almost impossible for older companies

Are you ready to loose control?

Third obstacle:

Page 18: Innovation is almost impossible for older companies

When companies miss their results, shareholders push hard for stronger plans to recover

their investments.

Page 19: Innovation is almost impossible for older companies

Since innovation is transforming constantly in the world, structured plans are not working anymore.

Page 20: Innovation is almost impossible for older companies

How many companies will accept to live with uncertainty?

Page 21: Innovation is almost impossible for older companies

How many will focus on developing business enablers with unpredictable results?

Page 22: Innovation is almost impossible for older companies

Financial pressure.

Fourth obstacle:

Page 23: Innovation is almost impossible for older companies

Cash is burning.

Page 24: Innovation is almost impossible for older companies

Your CFO asks for immediate actions.

Page 25: Innovation is almost impossible for older companies

It cost less money to try to stop the

damages on legacy market than to invest it

on innovation.

Page 26: Innovation is almost impossible for older companies

Conclusion

Even If most of companies know that innovation is their only way to

survive…

there are too many internal obstacles that make the

path to innovation IMPOSSIBLE.
