Commentary  &  insights    AXA  is  ac*vely  leveraging  new  technologies  such  as  IoT  and  wearables  to  put  itself  at  the  forefront  of  innova*on    

  AXA  has  developed  several  ini*a*ves  to  capture  innova*on  from  the  outside  and  bring  it  inside    

  Its  approach  is  one  of  con*nuous    innova*on  as  opposed  to  ‘one  big  day’  and  it  aims  to  foster  a  ‘start-­‐up’  spirit  across  the  Group    

  Three  new  recent  ini*a*ves  in  Asia  dedicated  to  innova*on  :  i)  AXA  Lab  in  Shanghai  ii)  Data  Innova*on  Lab  in  Singapore  iii)  AXA  strategic  ventures  office  in  Hong  Kong    

Background    AXA  is  one  of  the  worlds  leading  insurers,    serving  103  million  clients  in  59  countries.  Its  dis*nc*ve  product  por\olio  includes  P&C,  Life  and  Asset  Management  products.  

  Although  AXA’s  home  market  is  Western  Europe,  the  group  intends  to  reinforce  its  growth  in  the  years  ahead  by  building  its  presence  in  high-­‐growth  markets  

  Recently  AXA  has  been  inves*ng  in  several  digital  ini*a*ves  such  as  the  AXA  Drive  Coach,  AXA  connected  home,  Health  Keeper,  AXA  Lab  etc  in  order  to  embrace  the  digital  age.

AXA  enters  into  a  strategic  partnership  with  Facebook  to  further  develop  its  Digital,  Social  and  Mobile  footprint  in  France  and  Globally  

AXA  Lab  works  on  digital  sourcing,  detec*ng  the  latest  trends  &  connec*ng  start-­‐ups  and  major  high-­‐tech  players  (like  Facebook  or  Linkedin)  with  AXA    It    focuses  on:    Ø Marke*ng,  acquisi*on,  sales  and  distribu*on  ac*vi*es    Ø Social  Networks,  Internet  of  Things,  the  Collabora*ve  Economy,  and  Big  Data  digital  domains  

AXA  have  worked  with  BlaBlaCar  to  tailor  an  innova*ve  insurance  product  

especially  for  long-­‐distance  ridesharing  as  an  addi*on  to  drivers’  exis*ng  insurance  policies.

AXA  Lab  Asia  (Shanghai  2015)   AXA  Strategic  Ventures  (HK  2015)   Data  Innova5on  Lab(Singapore  2015)  

AXA  Strategic  Ventures  intends  to  seize  numerous  investment  opportuni6es  in  the  region  and  to  aid  European  and  American  start-­‐ups  in  the  Asian  market.  The  Group  has    announced  the  crea*on  of  a  €200  million  venture  capital  fund,  "AXA  Strategic  Ventures".  

The  Data  Innova*on  Lab  will    act  as  a  business-­‐focused  centre  of  exper*se  on  data  analy*cs  to  foster  Research  &  Development  for  AXA  offers  and  services.  It  will  be  based  on  the  model  of  the  one  already  created  in  France.    

AXA  Lab  Asia  will  foster  the  digital  culture  and  further  the  spirit  of  innova*on  across  the  group.  Its  aim  is  to  track  digital  trends,  connect  with  business  partners  and  pilot  innova6ve  ideas.  Its  model  will  be  based  on  the  US  Lab  created  in  Silicon  Valley  

AXA  has  created  three  new  structures  dedicated  to  investment  and  innova*on  in  Asia,  in  order  to  be>er  connect  the  Group  to  the  region's  rapidly  developing  entrepreneurs,  talents  and  new  business  models.  These  structures  will  complement  the  exis*ng  presence  of  the  AXA  Group  in  Europe  and  North  America  with  the  very  same  objec*ve:  to  improve  customer  experience  through  partnerships,  pilots  and  investments.
