The concept of sustainable development has gained a significant
importance among academicians, management practitioners, and
policymakers in the recent past. Sustainable development is the
development that focuses on meeting the needs of the present without
compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. To
achieve sustainable development the world needs to balance between the
economic, social, and environmental objectives. In 2015, the United Nations
recommended the ‘Sustainable Development Goals, Targets, and Indicators’
for framing the developmental agendas and public policies over the next
fifteen years. The seventeen goals that are suggested by the United Nations
focus on inclusive and sustainable growth amid globalisation. A closer look at
these goals indicates that the global economy has a major role to play in the
achievement of these milestones.
The idea of sustainable development is compelling conscious business
leaders to revise their business models, develop new technologies, and focus
on environmental innovations. Nevertheless, there is a clear need to focus on
inclusive growth and employment, protecting the environment, reducing
inequality and poverty, and enforcing governance. Innovation certainly has
a major role to play in achieving sustainable development goals. Innovation
and sustainable development are two pillars which can support a better
tomorrow for our future generations.
International Management Conference on “Innovation and Sustainable
Development in Global Economy” aims at exploring the role of innovation
and sustainable development in the current realms of the global economy.
The conference will foster discussions among the academicians,
management practitioners, research scholars, and policy-makers across the
globe on building a global economy that is driven by sustainable
development and fueled by innovation. This forum will also facilitate them to
present their ideas and research findings related to the theme of the
conference.
