for startersBefore we begin, I would like to comment on some sub-jects: this book is not intended to give absolute defini-tions and academic innovation issues. It is based on a personal and artistic expression of the participants of the 3rd Innovation Jam Monterrey, about what defines an innovator and what makes him/her different from the rest of the other inhabitants of the planet. Each of these definitions is represented with a figure of clay, made by the same creator of the definition, so that we can move into a more creative and less structure world.
If there is a common element in all definitions of this book, is movement. The innovator is never static, inert or expectant. The innovative moves, flows, pulsates, vi-brates or bursts. That is the spirit of innovation, either within a large organization, managing a Mom-and-Pop, or starting a new business.
The innovator always has his eyes open, intuitively looking to spread this attitudeall around him.
Thanks to everyone who participated in our3rd Innovation Jam Monterrey 2012.And this book is from you and for you.

afterwordAs human beings we are, we have an intrinsic need to seek new ways of doing things, whether the situation requires it, to kill bore-dom or out of curiosity. As collaborators of Factor WOW Innovation Consulting, we firmly believe that all human beings are creative. We think that since childhood, more specifically, during our early years, that stage of our lives in which everything for us is new and wonderful, where curiosity is always greater than the fear and risk of facing a chal-lenge is always exceeded by enthusiasm to achieve success and get the reward of the new knowledge gained, the new experience.
Basically this is how our acquisition of knowledge through experi-ence, through dynamic and games that allow us to develop think-ing skills.
Perhaps this is one reason why at our company we use an ap-proach to the problems with unorthodox methods, very similar to those that a child would use. Through this new concept of "Gamifi-cation" we can give a dierent perspective to business people in order to meet the challenges. This is why I think it's fair that we get back these crayons and playdough we got in kindergarten that was taken from us when we had to enter elementary school.
It also serves to understand one thing: Innovation is not a word that is linked exclusively to the world of technology or scientific ad-vances. As we have seen through this dictionary, innovation starts from thought that comes to life through vocabulary, through the act of communicating, therefore I think that innovation is culture. As culture is something that we can talk about, and as something that excites us, is an enthusiasm that can infect others. I think that's why this movement started by reading through a glossary of words,
we can communicate and we can make them spread, through which we can transmit knowledge, but more importantly we transmit values, which form part of our new culture, a culture of innovation.
Like all cultures, will require documentation and a cultural heri-tage and this is what this our first document, the first of many, our first Innopedia. We hope you've enjoyed reading it as much as we enjoyed making this book.

and then? After this 3rd Innovation Jam many people have asked me how to become an active agent in this innovation move-ment we´re facilitating in Mexico.
If you are among the people that wish to become one of the advocates that are leading the innovation revolution, please write us. We would be glad to add you to our group and listen to your ideas.
