Learn more at http:// nawbo-ie.org/ San Bernardino County Supervisor Josie Gonzales and Assemblymember Cheryl Brown aended the Lano Health Collaboraves Posada Navide- ña, a winter holiday event at Muscoy Elementary School. They wished every- body a Merry Christmas and took pic- tures with Santa Clause and students from Muscoy Elementary School. Posadas are a cultural tradion rooted in the blending of Chrisanity with Mesoamerican cultures. The word posada means shelter or lodging, and refers to the place Jesus Christ was born. With roots in Spain and Catholi- cism, the posada has been pracced in Mexico since the 16th century. To this day, people in Mexico and Central America mark the nine days for Christ- mas by holding a posada each night. The event provided giſts to hun- dreds of children in the Muscoy Elementary School area. The Lano Health Collaborave (LHC) was launched in November of 2004 as a group of community stakehold- ers focused on finding ways to in- crease access to care and to eliminate health disparies. In this relavely short period, LHC has garnered the reputaon as a leader in community organizing, coalion building, and health policy advocacy and has expe- rienced rapid growth, from a handful of commied individuals to over 50 members represenng faith- and community-based organizaons, county behavioral and health depart- ments, community clinics, hospitals, school districts, and representaves of county, and state elected officials. ntildea a winter holiday event at Muscoy

Elementary School They wished every-

body a Merry Christmas and took pic-

tures with Santa Clause and students

from Muscoy Elementary School

Posadas are a cultural tradition rooted

in the blending of Christianity with

Mesoamerican cultures The word

posada means shelter or lodging and

refers to the place Jesus Christ was

born With roots in Spain and Catholi-

cism the posada has been practiced in

Mexico since the 16th century To this

day people in Mexico and Central

America mark the nine days for Christ-

mas by holding a posada each night

The event provided gifts to hun-

dreds of children in the Muscoy

Elementary School area

The Latino Health Collaborative (LHC)

was launched in November of 2004

as a group of community stakehold-

ers focused on finding ways to in-

crease access to care and to eliminate

health disparities In this relatively

short period LHC has garnered the

reputation as a leader in community

organizing coalition building and

health policy advocacy and has expe-

rienced rapid growth from a handful

of committed individuals to over 50

members representing faith- and

community-based organizations

county behavioral and health depart-

ments community clinics hospitals

school districts and representatives

of county and state elected officials

1930) PART 1

Inspired by the British Museumrsquos highly successful exhibit ldquoA History of

the World in 100 Objects curators at the Riverside Metropolitan Museum

have carefully selected a wide assortment of 50 objects to represent River-

sidersquos past Alone each object may not tell a story but together they cre-

ate a context which reveals the history of Riverside along the way Mam-

moth molars stage coach foot warmers comal cooking stones chinese

medicine bottles photographs and more will reveal the rich history of

Riverside from pre-history to 1930 Highlights from Riversides history also

include Spring Rancheria Chinatown John W North early transportation

the citrus boom Harada family water recreation fire department and

more

The exhibit will be installed in two parts the first part which will be on

display from March 7 2013 through January 4 2015 will cover the pre-

history of the region and take us through 1930 The second installation will

Azusa Pacific Cougars Continue To Rake In Honors

After making a run to the National Christian College Athletics Associ-ation championship match the Azusa Pacific womenrsquos volleyball team had six players receive national honors the NCCAA announced

Senior middle blocker Christy Cain highlighted the list taking home first team All-American recognition along with being named to the NCCAA All-Tournament team Sophomore out-side hitter Mattie Shelford took home second-team All-American honors while junior outside hitter Ali-cia Utke was named to the All-Tournament team Junior hitter Hay-ley Beetstra and defen-sive specialists Cori Es-parza and Emily Ingalls were each given NCCAA Scholar Athlete honors

ldquoWe had a great sea-son and itrsquos a great honor to have so many awards for the outstanding individu-al play this season Everyone on our team worked so hard this season and as it goes for any individu-al awards they wouldnrsquot be possible without the team success and all sea-son thatrsquos what each of our players worked towardsrdquo said head

Suarez who spent 14 years at the PBS NewsHour has titled his speech ldquoGetting Ready for the Next Ameri-cardquo Just recently he has been named permanent host of Al Jazeera Americarsquos daily program ldquoInside Storyrdquo

The lecture honors the legacy of Howard H ldquoTimrdquo Hays Jr the longtime owner and publisher of The Press-Enterprise newspaper His son Tom Hays created an endowment fund to make sure the tradition of the lec-ture lived on in Riverside even after his fatherrsquos death in 2011 Although the talk is free reservations are request-ed and may be made online or by calling (951) 827-3144

Veteran journalist Ray Suarez will survey the changing landscape of American journalism at 2 pm Sun-day Jan 26 in the University Thea-tre at UC Riverside His appearance is free and open to the public as part of the 46th Hays Press-Enterprise

Suarez who spent 14 years at the PBS NewsHour has titled his speech ldquoGetting Ready for the Next Ameri-cardquo Just recently he has been named permanent host of Al Jazeera Americarsquos daily program ldquoInside Storyrdquo

Azusa Pacific Cougars Continue To Rake In Honors

After making a run to the National Christian College Athletics Associ-ation championship match the Azusa Pacific womenrsquos volleyball team had six players receive national honors the NCCAA announced

Senior middle blocker Christy Cain highlighted the list taking home first team All-American recognition along with being named to the NCCAA All-Tournament team Sophomore out-side hitter Mattie Shelford took home second-team All-American honors while junior outside hitter Ali-cia Utke was named to the All-Tournament team Junior hitter Hay-ley Beetstra and defen-sive specialists Cori Es-parza and Emily Ingalls were each given NCCAA Scholar Athlete honors
