Ini$al  Ideas    For  Narra$ve

Idea  1;  My  first  ini$al  idea  is  to  use  the  bands’  garage  for  the  performance  area  of  the  video,  as  this  will  make  the  appearance  of  the  video  look  more  convincing  that  it’s  a  professional  music  video.  I’ll  use  this  same  loca$on  as  the  set  for  the  narra$ve  side  of  the  video  also,  the  narra$ve  will  be  based  around  the  lead  singer  (perhaps)  geHng  kidnapped  and  being  taken  to  the  loca$on  of  the  performance  where  the  song  will  stop  and  a  short  interroga$on  will  occur  (no  longer  than  20  /  30  seconds)  and  will  become  more  violent  as  the  song  restarts  and  con$nues  (with  shots  of  the  performance  in  between  the  narra$ve)  and  will  end  with  a  twist  on  the  narra$ve  side  of  the  video.  During  the  interroga$on  area  of  the  narra$ve  there  will  be  some  extremely  brief,  disjunc$ve  disturbed  flashing  images  which  will  sync  against  the  music  to  make  it  feel  like  a  music  video.  The  narra$ve  will  start  with  the  kidnapping,  and  during  the  interroga$on  there  will  be  brief  flashbacks  that  tell  the  story  quickly,  un$l  the  end.  

Idea  2;  •  The  performance  area  of  the  video  remains  the  same,  but  the  

narra$ve  shows  a  person  running  away/leaving  something(or  someone)  behind  which  is  shown  by  the  use  of  bags/suitcases  etc,  about  30  seconds  of  screen  $me  will  show  him  walking  to  his  des$na$on  through  uses  of  different  shots/camera  movements,  he  wanders  into  the  woods  to  find  a  place  to  rest  and  sees  2  others  siHng  together  (one  roughly  resembling  a  sub-­‐urban  gang  member,  and  another  of  a  different  past/group)  there  will  then  be  shots  of  what  led  them  to  where  they  are  (like  a  flashback),  and  to  no$ce  whose  past  the  audience  are  looking  into  there  will  be  a  close  up  of  the  face,  and  then  a  close  up  of  the  eyes.  This  will  happen  with  all  3  characters,  and  will  then  have  a  twist  occur  which  will  show  the  past  that  the  people  fled  from  coming  back  to  kill  them  (these  characters  had  fled  from  a  bad  life  of  crime/war  etc)  and  the  main  character  will  flee  the  forest  and  run  into  the  person  he  was  escaping,  and  be  killed.  

Idea  3;  •  Again,  the  performance  parts  of  the  video  will  remain  the  

same  but  the  narra$ve  will  consist  of  the  main  character  arguing  with  a  female  (argument  will  be  muffled),  the  video  will  start  with  this  argument  (inc.  diege$c  sound)  and  will  show  the  male  storming  out  of  a  house/building  where  the  song  will  then  start,  and  upon  the  song  beginning  there  will  be  performance  shots  of  the  band  playing,  intersec$ng  with  the  narra$ve.  The  narra$ve  will  escalate  to  the  runaway  male  wandering  back  alleys  at  night,  and  the  video  will  show  dangers  of  the  darkness  (what  can  lie  within  it)  and  the  character  being  confronted  by  these  dangers  (realis$c,  every  day  dangers  like  being  mugged/threatened  etc)
